Salvaging Uni-body parts for a 69 Charger restoration

You have done a really good job. Fun isn't it? See how they are put together. Now you've got a good feel for what I've been doing for the last 10 years. 5-10 cars per year and still have fun doing it.

Thanks Reb,
I haven't seen a thread with a subject like this so I thought I would do one. But believe me when I say I am learning as I go!

I started one a while back call Drillin Da Spot Welds but I just didn't have the time to keep updating it. This has been a real good thread.

Mark, I saw that thread and I thought it was GREAT! I bought a seam buster because of it.

Say mark, as long as I've got you on here I have a question.
I have the rear clip that I plan on putting into my Charger.
Is there any advantage to leaving the trunk pan, rear seat pan (if that's what is called) and inner fenders on and just slide it in? (like it's gonna be that easy) Or should I strip all of the pans, take lots of measurements and put the rear frame rail assembly (with rear crossmember and shock mount) in?

The down side to this is I will have to remove the trunk pan at some point and that would probably be easier before it goes in. Not to mention all the work would be from under the car.

Just wondering what you would do? Or anyone else, if they have done this I would appreciate your opinions.

Myself I'd leave as much of the factory welds that you can. May need to pull the inner tubs for ease. Leave the under seat pan but will have to bend the ends up the tie the frame to the rockers. If replacing the rockers then no problem. Did you remove the rear cross member? If so you may want to leave the trunk pan in. Were you going to try and convert that pan to a Charger one? If so then leave it in for sure. The more you can leave factory welded togother the better. Less labor and more left factory jigged and welded.

Amazing Work you doing there.
Those 4-door cars could be used to save convertibles, even the front windshield frame could be used.
But still looks like one hell of a puzzle.

Here's an update.
Removed the undercoating from inner wheelhouse

Then I removed them

Next I lifted the rear clip so I could remove the undercoating a little easier

The frame rails look really good! Just being able to salvage these alone was worth what I paid for the car and I still have the front clip if I need it!
