Seaking a previous owner of your car. What would you do?

This thread makes me wonder. I have the names and old addresses of all 3 previous owners. Make me wonder if it would be worth while trying to contact any of them.

As for the OP, boy that's a tough call, but I'd almost bet at 97 he probably barely remembers his name, much less the car.

You might be surprised. In the grocery store last week and saw a childhood friends mother. She's 98 and sharp as a tack, still drives.

Thats creepy and offensive.

That plate tells the story of a man who was proud of his car. He would be proud to tell you stories if he is in good health. I would not hesitate to try and make contact.
Good luck.

I found the previous owner on Facebook. I never use the darn site but thought maybe if I used it like it might have been intended, I might get lucky. I found the name and location and sent the message. It was about 2 years later, he returned the msg. I guess he uses FB less than me. We spoke on the phone and he was great. He had an old set of keys, dual air cleaner and some paperwork which he sent me for cost of shipping. Pretty good guy.

I found out why he got rid of the car too. He couldn’t fix the steering issues. He got frustrated after 3 steering box swaps and nothing changed. Talking to him helped me track things down. The Steering column was too short. Been collapsed at some point. My guess in one of the replacements it got hit and lost an inch and a half. No sign of accident damage. But, He now wants the car back. I told him I’ll give first refusal but don’t hold his breath.

Reach out, you never know!

I bought my car in FL from a dealer and the former owner lived not too far. Went there to ask but the house was kind of strange to me, fenced, warnings signs etc. so I felt not to knock was better.....
Few months later I wrote a letter but got no response at all. Another few months I went there again but could tell he had probably left the house, no more signs and the house was empty. I wish I have had more luck. But I have found the broadcast sheet under the backseat:)
