Seat belt restoration

That’s a good post. I am the quality manager at AmSafe, used to be American Safety. They made a lot of automotive seatbelts during that time including those in my roadrunner. I have searched archives for the parts but most have gone obsolete. We still have the square buckle with a black cover. different part number’s but same.
Cleaning webbing isn’t a good idea. The new stuff referenced is about the same in rated strength as the original. These should tensile out at around 7500lbs. Thread diameter and stitching need to be exact to what was originally there to maintain the design load on the restraints. AMC guy did good.

I will build a new set for my roadrunner soon. I bought some 3 point (couldn’t get time) for my bow tie car and......all AmSafe stuff.

There's a guy in Spanaway Washington that does seatbelt that look factory.
Allmoparseatbelts.com he does a really good job. Also can do seat covers and whatever else you may need.

That is Bill Edwards, he was just over today in fact because i am building his 69 Ply Wagon. He does amazing work on seat belts and is a life long Mopar guy. He knows what they should look like and what hardware they came with. All that said, I do know he is swamped so if you are in a hurry he probably cannot help but its worth giving him a call or emailing him. He just made a set for my 71 Charger and they are beautiful I have to say.

He just made a set for my 71 Charger and they are beautiful I have to say.

He did 2 seat belts for me. And he's very reasonable on price.

I handle all the internet sales for Bill. He’s a one man band and is extremely busy. Right now we are running short on parts. We get our parts from core sets purchased at swap meets. Because of Covid all the swaps have been cancelled. Because of this shortage I’m not taking orders for certain models such as 70 E body. Right noe our turn around for a set of belts is 12-16 weeks. Just talked with Bill yesterday and was told to hold off taking orders until we can get caught up.

Hey Dart, Just wanted to touch base on Bill, I sent him a set of 4 seats belts that came out of my 68 Charger a little more than a month ago. I don't know if he received or not (Package is insured.) I know he is swamped with work. I just hadn't heard anything just yet. I know he's getting a little long in the tooth. His voicemail box is full. Hoping he's not dealing with any health issues. Have you spoken to him recently? Thanks Tim

Like I said I handle the internet sales for Bill. As such all orders through me are tracked and updated. Orders directly to Bill are handled by Bill himself. I’m not up on his orders therefore they are not tracked by me.

I know there were health issues in his family throughout the year, but when I call he has told me he'll get the order out in a week or two, one time he said he was 5 weeks behind. I sent cores last winter. He's great on the phone and we have talked cars for a half hour or more each time. I know people with his belts and I've never heard a negative thing about him or his work.
The belts just never came.

Well I finally received my seatbelts from Bill, after so many phone calls, emails, etc. they arrived this past Saturday. The only problem was he put the wrong color sleeves on the belts. So I called him and he said he would send me the correct color sleeves and I will replace myself, then send him back the other sleeves. This was a very stressful encounter and I learned that Bill has some serious health issues. I wish him the best but if he could be more honest and straight with customers, it would serve him better. Thanks to all Forum members who chimed in.

Good stuff. Does anyone have any experience of being in an accident wearing refurbed seatbelts and the insurers refusing to pay out?
The originals were made under close safety standards but these seem to be getting remade by anyone with a sewing machine?
