I'm down to the paint and body work now on my73 charger, and was looking for some advice. It seems as if every forum has a different take. I went went down to bare metal and sprayed self etching primer over the car. Hindsight says I should've stayed an epoxy just as a general consensus. I understand I cannot put body filler over etching, so what I'm considering is sanding down the spots that will need the plastic filler to bare metal, applying the filler and shooting the whole thing in a 2k primer. Am I close to the right path? Will 2k be suitable to cover both the filler and etching primer? Then sand and base coat of color?

2k is no good on bare metal.

Right, my question was asking if I was able to shoot 2k on top of both self etch and filler. The filler is on bare metal. I'm going to sand the self etch off in patches. Do the filler on bare metal. And plan to shoot 2k over the filler/etch. 2k will never touch metal

That will work, but don't use the 2k you will have bare metal /filler and etching primer after sanding. I would use a 1k or something else, use 2k when your blocking after bodywork. I use 2k when I'm blocking after bodywork is finished so I don't burn through the primer.
