Setting up a business - shipping / selling cars to qatar

While on the topic, I know of a local company around here (well, the company is in Canada but the owners are from NZ) that shipped a container to New Zealand last December. It had a '67 440 Charger, '70 Cougar convertible, Dart GT convertible 4 speed, '71 R/T 440 Charger, a '71 Malibu and big block '66 Chevelle inside it. Anyone in New Zealand notice some vintage cars show up early in the year? :) They tried to buy a 1970 Shotgun Hemi Mustang but at $350,000 (Canadian) they passed so that one is still over here.

Yeah - I’m not going to knock the OP for his plan/thinking. From all accounts mentioned he’s a solid FBBO guy. But on the other hand I’m pretty much in camp with the guys that say “ Keep American Muscle in America”. I have zero doubt that the foreign guys that want and buy these cars likely worship them, take the best of care and appreciate every nut and bolt. However we’ve lost so much of Americana to foreign shores over the last many decades that I say keep these treasures here in North America where they were born, raised and a huge part of a cultural phenomenon that we’ll likely never witness again. How many of these countries chafe at sending their cultural treasures to America or elsewhere? I say many. I have to admit during a brief brain fart I considered selling the X overseas for the money. But the fog was momentary and quickly passed - I actually did a complete about face and sold the car to one of my life long buddies who could never afford a car like mine - but had worshipped it for the 48 years I owned it. I sold it to him for 35/40% under market because I wanted him to have it and pass it on to his son. No regrets.
So that’s my 50 cents worth on this subject.

I see both sides. I have sold a few cars over the last 15 years. 2 went to Germany and a bunch to Canada.
I advertised them and had a lot of interest from all over the world.
Sure, I would have preferred they stayed in the U.S., but at the end of the day no U.S. citizens stood up to make the purchase.
I got to know a few of the buyers, and I know the cars are in good hands.

I have too, and have no desire to ever return!
Didn't say I liked it. Lol. 135 deg on the tarmac in full body armor, my ruc and electronics bag. Stand there waiting in line. To say it sucked *** just doesn't seem to be a strong enough descriptor.
But I have done dealing with folks in the middle East and have had positive experiences. If I had the time and inclination, I'd be interested.

I guess you missed that I have NO desire to ever go back to that polluted, desolate, sandbox shithole side of the world ever again?
That's kool mate but not polluted , far from desolate and one of the best countries to live in ATM , don't bash without reason mate

Really? Not even for the sheep's eyes on toast for breakfast ?
Ha! That might be a step above that Marmite stuff you guyz put on toast...:poke:

Our cars are big, heavy and hard on gas.

I bet in Qatar premium gas is 1.50 a gallon!!

I don't mind our American Iron going overseas. As long whomever buys it loves and appreciates it like we do (like @josephqatarcarguy does).

Hey, it could always come back home! If the exchange rate is right, you might even buy it for less than you sold it! lol

Ive sold a couple over the years to Finland. 54 Corvette, 65 Coronet 2 dr hdtop. Got good money for both and it was much needed at the time.

Answer to OP's original question:
Not under any circumstances, thanks.

What is a 1970 Shotgun Hemi Mustang? Did a Hemi knock-up a Mustang and have to marry it under the gun?
That was the term for the Ford hemi engine in the 1969/1970 Boss 429 Mustang. This is the actual engine in the car that was being considered:

Thanks for the info. Didn't know that Ford ever had hemi heads.

Although that engine was available only in the Mustang (a $1,208.35 option that included a lot of unique suspension changes as well) it was actually offered just to homologate the engine for Nascar use, where it was installed in the Torino / Fairlane body. When Richard Petty raced for Ford in 1969 he started with the 427 but switched to this 429 later in the year. Petty won ten races for Ford that year.

The nickname 'Shotgun' came from the huge intake ports with 2.28 valves.

I'm on the fence about selling my 1971 Cuda. I barely drive it anymore. It would be nice if it went to someone who will use it more and appreciate, no matter where they're from. I'd prefer not to sell local because it would kill me seeing it cruising around especially if not in perfect shape.
