Should I by a 64 1/2 mustang or not

yessir know all about them generators on them particular Fords...got two Sunbeam Tigers that shared them electricals as stock.
 
Yup, that's true but the early production run all had generators instead of alternators.....

Absolutely! And a lot of other changes. The early run was from March (1964) to August. The line was shut down for re-tooling for all the changes. The above mentioned change from generator to alternator also meant different wiring harnesses. Changes included voltage regulators, horn switches, dash emblems, fold lines on the front of the hood and fenders, with different headlight housings needed to match. In all, there were about 200 changes made from the first run to the continuation of the 1965 model year cars.
 
I know it's not a mopar (mopars in my opinion are the best cars ever made) but I can get it for about 2000 to 2500. It's a 64 1/2 mustang all original 260 engine that does run. Some rust but not that bad the guy took the interior out but still has it all. It's is not a convertible. I thought about buying this putting interior back in, tune it up and sell it so I can buy more stuff for my roadrunner project. Would like some to here some opinions. Good deal/ bad deal/ I don't have any pics and it is automatic

The great thing about older Mustangs is they are always subject to the Bigger Idiot theory, which states there will always be a bigger idiot coming along who will pay more for a car. :)

I see three things here... running engine, has interior, not a lot of rust. I think you're right on the mark with this car. This is not a car "you" want to buy and restore, this is a car you want to buy and sell to The Bigger Idiot and put the profits into a car you do want. I would try to get the car for about $1,700, install the interior, give it a tune up and good washing, then write a sentimentality-appealing ad for it that's created to get every guy who's ever thought of driving around in a vintage Mustang's blood going and sell it for $5,000 or so.
 
The 64 1/2 cars were built in San Jose. The 6 cylinder cars had the small 6 from the falcon and shared many other falcon parts. Most were, indeed, titled as '65 but the sales sheet said 64 1/2. The rest were built in Dearborn
