I own a 1969 Coronet R/T. I have been just tossing my cell phone in the center console when I drive but the phone is not useful to me while it's in there.

So, I'm currently seeking a solution for mounting my cell phone in the car where I will be able to see it at a glance while driving. I placed an order for a dash/windshield mount that has an extendable shaft and a magnetic phone mount.

There's a link below.

So, what is everyone else using?

I use a magnet holder in my jeeps and my Ram.

I put some STRONG magnets inside the console lid of my Charger, and ran a USB cable through the console that comes out the rear where it meets the floor. I put my phone on the console lid and the strong magnets make sure it doesn't slide around. Not ideal but I can see it if I need Waze or something. And, invisible.

I don't use my phone while driving...anything. I get my copilot (aka wife) to handle that. Guess I'm old?

X2

Anything and everything that comes across the cellphone can wait. It's for my convenience and no one else!

While I appreciate some don't use their phones in their cars, there are some of us who do and need a way of mounting it. So that's what I'm after.

To each his own.

My cell phone mount is available from wall mart, for $12.99.

Rustler jeans, black or blue. Left front pocket, properly inaccessible while operating a motor vehicle.

If I had my way, those giant infotainment screens the manufacturers are so proud of would go black the instant the car moves.
Wanna see something, or get directions? Park the f#@king car!

Edit : the radio would be separate.

Something like this possibly? The suction mount is 3” in diameter, you could attach it to the windshield, atop the dash or on the wing window…

There's a difference between "using" your phone, and having a line of sight so you can see a map display.

Suction cups work but (as a motorcyclist and a cyclist) PLEASE don't put them in the middle of your windshield. They block enough of your view to completely hide a motorcycle or bicycle. Just like handicap placards - they say "remove before driving" for a reason!

I rarely use the phone in the car for obvious reasons, but when I do, have this one that tightens into a cup holder in my '63 Plymouth. Can insert and remove using one hand. Most of the time it's stowed in the console.

I have been using this one and love it.. https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Universal-Compatible-Smartphones-Bestrix/dp/B07GWZ5TDN

BUT --- I just got a new iphone and am switching to this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DCJJPXMT

It also works well and using the mag built into the iphone allows easy charging with things like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KTY5GM7?th=1

I was searching for the clever tachometer mount that slides under the dash pad but can't seem to find it. I thought maybe I could attach a magnetic phone mount to it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I have this one from Mob Armor. Nearby so I just got it direct from them. The magnet puck fits well on the dash. It includes the magnetic charge pad. The cig lighter adapter I use has multiple USB ports plus a digital volt meter. Scored this from Amazon.

Legally nothing below the ASI line. Located up in the corner of the windshield Usually about the edge of the shaded part of the glass.

On a 68-70 B-body, that would be ideal if it had a magnetic mount to stick on the underside of the dash, below the upper dash pad.

I didn't think of that. The car's still at the shop getting the new engine. So, I'm not able to go out and visualize where I might put a mount.
