single stage paint

Do you know, will they go through a gas mask like this?

Any catalyzed paint is bad for you, isocyantes. Goes right through any respirator, that's why a fresh air suit is recommended.

You won’t know without looking at the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the paint, but if @Bird 426 is correct, a full face negative pressure respirator with filters won’t work. You really need to see the SDS, and crack open the NIOSH handbook to determine what type of respiratory protection would work, either supplied air respirator or negative air respirator with correct cartridges to filter the contaminates.

Is it a special paint for engines? Brand name ? :thankyou:
The only issue I had early on was having the primer stick to cast iron. I was cleaning it with lacquer thinner. When tp Prep AOL and never had another issue.

Yes: I used to put a mist of DP40 on and Centari Hemi Orange over that, I ran out of it a couple years ago and tried spray bombs again. The Spray bombs are unacceptable, lets just say that.

I do not paint for a living, but have done a lot of painting, and not in a down draft paint booth. Everytime I get a sniff of catalyzed paint now, at age 75, I get half sick for about 24 hours. Yeah, my blood work looks fine too, but when isocyanates go into your body, where do they end up? It's not like drinking a glass of water and peeing it back out. We all can get by doing things that won't kill us right away, hell, I'm proof of that! But, common sense will tell you, that over time, things do add up.
