Small Block water pump, you gotta pay attention...

So, a buddy swapped out his water pump over the weekend & when he was done it was leaking worse than before he worked on it.... Not sure what the Mopar engineers were thinking when they designed this... The bolt pattern is symmetrical but the gasket isn't... So it's easy to get the gasket on wrong if you aren't paying attention... It's close enough that it doesn't leak when you fill it with coolant, but once it gets hot & builds pressure it can pop the gasket right out....

What about the other areas?

I must be lucky. This is one mistake that I don't remember making.

All four locations are potential leaks... In this case the area behind the lower radiator hose connection let go...
