Smogger 440 build (piston height)

We were wrong about the compression issue so that's why I was wondering if I should use the thin head gaskets and maybe retard the cam timing 4 degrees my sons trying to get this motor done so he can focus on the 66 barracuda body I'm just hoping it will be powerful and give him that lopey sound he wants

The Sum 6401 isn't really that lopey but you know it's not stock. It has a good reputation on preformance though. The car in this video has a 440 with the Sum 6401

And for what purpose would you retard the cam timing 4 degrees? Did it come with a cam card and a recommended ICL? If you put a big exhaust system on it, it will sound lopey.

What is your final piston to deck clearance with the new pistons? Are you still like .100" plus down in the hole? I like to keep it around .010 to maybe .020" below deck, depending on the heads you're using.

Post #72..........They are .157" in the hole and they are "stomped" on what to do.

Yes it is 157 thousands in the hole and as for retarding the cam timing we were told that by the machine shop he said it would help give it that lopey sound and help with top end power
