It was well presented.
I'll assume because it immediately became a sale advertisement from a "what's it worth" posting and we know the mods hate those..
Probably the biggest irritant about this site.I don't understand the resistance to a sub forum for that very thing. Lots of people have things to sell and don't know the value to place on the stuff.
Asking what something is worth would be ok if the members wouldn't offer to buy (or steal) the parts or cars.I don't understand the resistance to a sub forum for that very thing. Lots of people have things to sell and don't know the value to place on the stuff.
May be you should chat with him about it. I would hate to see the free for all it would create and all the unofficial sales that would be there. (and how many uneducated members would get hosed out of their late father's cars and parts)I agree, Mike.
I trust that since Joey was smart enough to employ some qualified staff to keep this site running smooth in terms of software issues, updates and the day to day operations, he is certainly capable of coming up with a way to make it work.
I've offered suggestions and would be glad to offer more if needed. I'd be glad to help.
Years back, members asked about a 68-70 Charger forum and it happened. Joey surely wants the forum to do well and with a little work, I'd think a WIW forum could help grow the membership and serve the members well.
I don't think that it would be a mess to the degree that you describe if it is kept in check.May be you should chat with him about it. I have sold many parts here (FABO). It's pretty easy to do your homework or google the part and search ads. If I have $200 in a intake manifold and want to resell it, $300 sounds like a good price unless it's a rare piece and worth $500. I have been involved in such a process many times while in the tool business. What a pain it is to come up with a fair value.I don't think that it would be a mess to the degree that you describe if it is kept in check.
I typed out a response a moment ago but it came across as harsh...I'll tone it down to get my point made as gently as possible.
I've rarely seen a Moderator list anything for sale. I'm sure that you guys have before, I just don't recall.
Because of that, you may not have personally dealt with the dilemma of pricing a part for which there is no established scale of value.
I have. Many of us have. Stashes of parts get discovered sometimes and sometimes there are things in there that would help a member with their project but it is an obscure thing with no record of current sales anywhere. The seller then either sells far too cheap or lists it too high and everyone thinks he is a greedy jerk. All that I'm asking is that we get a forum to establish a reasonable price for stuff that we want to sell. When selling becomes frustrating, some people just throw the stuff away. That is bad for the guy with the 66 Dart that needed that stainless trim on the quarter panels or the wiper arms for the 72 Satellite. Sometimes those small parts really spark a guy into keeping his car and enjoying it.
ANother forum witth special rules is all I can see. Whatt a pain it is to baby set those.I absolutely meant no offense to you guys. I just don’t recall seeing many ads listed by moderators. I do t see everything though so bear with me.
I was thinking that for the members that step out of bounds, a penalty could be a one week ban from the WIW forum. Subsequent violations could carry a stiffer penalty. It should be strongly encouraged to use PMs if someone is interested in buying. The political forum
Has the listing HAVE A THICK SKIN so the WIW forum could have a warning on it too.
Just a few ideas, more are simmering as we chat here…
It's back up for all to see just locked nowSo as we go down the familiar road... lol. Did the mods toast it as a sales ad?
