I have been following some advice on here and wired up an MSD 6AL1 into my 72 satty 360 with magnetic pick-up dizzy to bypass a problem in/with my ecu box.....kept frying the ecu's fast....well after many days of work and examination it runs good and strong..but I am getting a "burning" smell inside the car when I am cranking it over to start it. seems to go away when it catch's and runs but while you are cranking it (usually 4-5 rolls) it smells hot or like melted plastic....but after tearing into it and checking twice I cannot find any burnt wires....could it be up in the dash at the ammeter? Or have any of you had this problem and know what it might be..thanks in advance guys I do appreciate your time.

Very well could be ammeter, take a look at the wires. Check the starter wires and fusible link as well. While you are at it, check the bulkhead disconnect. And get rid of the ammeter. They cause nothing but problems.
