Dual Point Problem

Didn’t help

The engine won't run WITHOUT the condenser connected. If in doubt, replace the condenser, if that doesn't fix the problem, replace the coil and secure all connections.

it will run it will just burn the points up sooner. at least you will see the points sparking all over the place. now he can eliminate the condenser as being bad.

Wrong.....the condenser is part of the coil's inductive reactance-capacitive reactance network (charge/discharge time base)....it's just easier to test by substitution.....see @HALLIFAXHOPS for parts.....

I’ve replaced the coil and condenser and points.curious what others think about this ballast resistor? It reads correct while cold but what does this condition do while hot?

It probably goes open hot. Just run a jumper wire across and feed the coil the full 12 volts, it won't hurt anything to run with the full 12 volts for a little while to test things.
