Well ya, because he was "the Juice". He became a darling because of his once unbelievable athletic skills. I watched the OJ Simpson documentary beginning to end...it's long. Apparently he's not all that beloved by some black people either. They said he became a sellout and lapdog...and then married a white women (and I guess that was the final straw for a few). I never would have known that if were not for the documentary. Now he's kind of a pariah with some...but the greater majority still love him.

I once had a conversation about this with a friend who's black. He said the reason black people cheered isn't so much that they felt he was innocent. It was that first time a rich black man bought his way out of murder charges like rich white guys have been doing for ever.

Honestly, I kinda get that.
