I finished rebuilding my starter and I’m now needing to put a “brush plate sealer” around the removable brush plate. The service manual recommendation is brush plate sealer part number 2421847 (I’m not finding anything on line for this item).

I’m looking for sealer recommendations, this is my first time rebuilding a starter. I can see the remnants of the sealer from previous work on the starter. I considered just trying some RTV type sealer but thought I’d ask first. Thanks!

I use high heat gasket maker, don't forget to boil your bendix in gear oil before assembly.

Interesting.

I've replaced a couple bendix' and never done that.

What's it supposed to do?
