Starting the resto process 69 GTX

Well like you read, it is very time comsuming, but it is fairly easy. I understand your concern about wanting to do it professionally. I wanted to do it myself so I could learn a lot about the workings of the box. Also I'm 2 years and five figures in the hole and I gotta save money. Again, save money not cut corners. Advice is free, so don't worry, letting people know how to do something right is what I like to do.

update of the restore

Well, even with all the cold and snow, the car is moving along. As you can see by the pictures, it almost ready to be primed. He is putting on the filler to smooth any dings, but he did a great job with gettng any dents or dings out. So late next week the car will be in primer and I will have it back at the end of March. That gives me almost 2 months to put it back together.

Both front fenders and the hood were primed last night...almost there!

paint

Well, I was excited to see the 1st coat of paint go on the car today. I had to leave or I would have watched the next 4 go on. But it is starting to look like a real car again, with the warm weather finally here I am really wanting to get to work on her. Here are pictures of the sealer that just went on. Ipost the paint next.

pic's

LOL, I'd give you more, but they are of the same things but different angles. I'm going back up on Monday when all of the painting is done. I will be bringing the motor to him also.
I'll post more then.

From what I saw in the first pics, check to be sure on the location of the quarter GTX emblems. Those looked to be pretty high to me. Maybe when it was repainted before they put them in the wrong place?

paint

Ok, so the car now has 4 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear. As you can see in 1 of the pictures it is being sanded. I felt it and after sanding it is super smooth. As I have said before, I am really happy on what this guy is doing. So far he has not taken any shortcuts (like I might have).
He is worth every penny! He tells me mid next week he will have most of the car put back together. I brought the engine up to him today.
More pictures next week!

I left it up to the builder, but I told him I wanted it close to stock, so something like one step up. I have not heard it run yet, but it was on the dyno.
