I have finally got it together to have my Out of the Box INDY SEZ Standard Port Heads taken out to MAX WEDGE SIZE and some porting while at it.
Also a new INDY DOMINATOR BASE MAX WEDGE PORT intake manifold.
Also new COMP springs/retainers/valve locks, seals and valve guides as well as all new Ferrea Stainless Steel valves. Increase open pressure from 350lbs to 410lbs. The cam is broken in from previous runs so we weren't nervous about increasing the spring pressure.
I need the extra spring pressure because I have been going thru the traps at 6800RPM (4.30 gear with 28" tall tires) and now I think it will be going thru at over 7000rpm with these upgrades.
Hope it all makes a sizable difference at the track.
I think I might be the last of the guys to finally go max wedge.
I am certain that I can now run "easy" 10.60's which is the index for my main class at the drags which is D/GAS even in really "bad" air of 3000' to 3500'.
I have an "adjustable restrictor plate" to dial it right onto that 10.60 et index.
I kinda think the car will run in the high 10.20's or low 10.30's right at 130mph in "good air" of around 500-1000 feet adjusted altitude. My personal best was 10.48 at 126.6 in good air (500 feet adjusted altitude) before this max wedge and intake manifold upgrade.
And most important the car is 100% street legal with current California Tags and insurance by Hagerty. (Headlites, horn, turn signals, DOT M/T slicks, all glass windows, fully carpeted, etc)
Next outing is not until June 3th and 4th.

Bad ***, I was thinking of going with indys but my builder wanted to use victors so they're at CNC right now :D

Congrats on the upgrades, Mike! I'll be watching for those numbers!

Excellent! You just keep going faster all the time! Looking forward to the time slip results. Mike did you happen to get any before and after flow numbers?

congrats Mike someday we will have to get together. I spoke with Dennis the other day and sent him my build and body notes.

Big max wedge ports and a rank looking Indy intake! Mike you'll have to let us know how the port match is. With my Indy cross ram I ended up doing some JB weld on my intake to get mine matched up. Not sure how most guys check but when I did my matching I pinned my intake gaskets to the heads first, installed the intake, then drilled and pinned the intake to the gasket. Once the intake was back off I placed the intake gasket back in place on the intake pins and found that I needed to even things out. Shortened 1/16" rivets worked good for my pins. There's likely better ways to do this but it ended up being my backyard method.

A local race shop did the heads. REDMON'S MACHINE SHOP in Oakhurst, CA. The Out of the Box INDY SEZ standard port heads only flow about [email protected]. The work was mainly enlarging to MAX WEDGE PORT SIZE and gasket match that was done and only a mild port job...plus installing the new Ferrea SS valves, springs, etc etc.

from what I understand, the big jump in h.p. is going to come from the intake being max-wedged, my standard , cnc`d raised port knock off flow 352 @ .600, but don`t go up much from there. the standard gasket matched torquer 2, that I opened up the corner runners, is probly my killing part. don`t have room for anything taller w/ a filter, all under a 6 pack scoop. throttle body, so no dual plane. looking forward to ur flow #`s.

Interesting. I had my head porting done by a very experienced engine builder and personal friend of 40 years. On the max wedge intake ports not too much time was put into that area because of the good initial flow on the Victors. The exhaust side though, got a lot of work, which improved by about 30% from initial flow. He told me that from his experience on larger stroker motors the problem he finds is getting the flow out. Says that the dyno numbers go up lots with exhaust work on the larger motors.

Hey Mike, Heads look nice! Thanks for turning me on to Redmans. Cody left me a message when I was on the road to Mopars at the Strip. I called back and spoke to his Dad and told him I'd get with them when I got back. He said no problem on fixing the head and wouldn't even be able to see where they repaired it. By the way, I think I told you since I torched a head on the 64, I was taking a backup car to Vegas.... Ended up Winning Sport Compact with it :D

Very cool Mike!
Any flow numbers?

with the RPM increase & spring pressure, I would say it's time to step up the Rocker arms.

Congrats on the changes, Mike. I've been following along for a while and remember how disappointed you were with the standard port window.

What size combustion chambers?
I used those same heads ported to Max Wedge with a 76 cc chamber and ran a best of 9.88@ 135.
Same as you street legal with a race weight of 3750.

Fast! What were they bolted onto to make that kind of power.
