Stellantis Brings The HEMI Back !!

Hornet's are already overpriced. That's why they are not selling, and sitting on dealer's lots.

Stellantis could put their twin turbo 3 liter inline 6 in the new Charger and call it:

Dodge Charger Tavares Skedaddle Pack

A local CDJR was open yesterday (Sunday) for sales business; not parts or service

No customers or tirekickers on the lot.

Apparently I've been living under a rock, because I'm just learning about this now.

I haven't gotten tired of winning yet!

Long live the Hemi :usflag:

Plenty of HEMI's still sitting on dealership lots.

I went through the Dodge.com online shopper and searched for 2023 Charger and Challenger models equipped with a HEMI:

2023 CHARGER
237 R/T
381 SCAT PACK
145 SCAT PACK WIDE BODY
1 SRT HELLCAT WIDE BODY JAILBREAK

***

2023 CHALLENGER

563 SCAT PACK
83 SCAT PACK WIDE BODY
190 SRT HELLCAT JAILBREAK
53 SRT HELLCAT WIDE BODY JAILBREAK

Also, when applicable to the above models, there are 194 Challengers available with a manual transmission.

and 2023 DURANGO:
167 with the HEMI

Someone has been running an engine survey on the RAM forum and the last I checked 75% wanted a Hemi in their new RAM. The turbo 6 for 2025 seems to be having a lot of initial issues but not so much with the engine itself. More with the electronics, engine management hardware/software and wiring harness. Most who actually work their pickups hard with towing and daily business are pretty leery of a 3 liter engine running 20+ psi boost and heat generation.

I’ll be in the market for a new truck when I retire this summer. Dodge Ram doesn’t offer a naturally aspirated V8, GM has major problems with their V8s so I will probably have to go with a 5.0 F150.

Both GM and Ford shared in design and production of their 10-speed transmission which is apparently failing with a high degree of frequency. The Ford V8 does seem to be considered the best of the lot at this time. Since I bought my 23 RAM I’ve been following the RAM forum and it’s hard to know what to do for a pickup anymore since the Hemi was canceled out of the 1500 trucks - although it too had some issues.

I thought I wanted a Toyota Tundra since their SUVs have been dead reliable for me. But I looked at one and the cab was sort of cramped compared to the RAM and then I started reading about their turbo failures and low gas mileage so I got a 23 Hemi. Lately there seems to be some interest in the Nissan Titan as it retains a V8 and seems to be pretty reliable. I went down to our local Nissan dealer a few months ago out of curiosity to size up their latest Titan offering and they didn’t have a single Titan, new or used, anywhere on the lot. So they seem to be in short supply for some reason.

The RAM guys seem to be snapping up leftover Hemis or going to 2500 Hemi models and hopping the new leadership brings the Hemi back to the 1500 series.

Titan is probably in short supply because they were poor sellers and are no longer produced. They stopped here in Canada in 2021, last year was the final run for the US market.

I guess me and the RAM guys didn’t get the message. There was even a discussion going around a few weeks ago that RAM was thinking about buying the Nissan V8 as an option to quickly get a V8 back in the RAM 1500. I didn’t put much faith into the story but maybe RAM figured Nissan might have some excess capacity for the V8 if the Titan was going away. Don’t know.

Perhaps it was thought about, but with the current hemi still in production and still an option in some vehicles like the Durango, it shouldn't have been that difficult to build more as needed. Kuniskis hasn't ruled out bringing the engine back for Ram trucks either.
