QJs & TQs were spread bore. The size difference of the pr & sec bores of say, a 650 Edel AVS does not make it a spread bore. It is a square bore carb, as are all Edel/Carter AFB/AVS carbs.

What differentiates a square bore from a spread bore is the centre lines of the t/bores, relative to the mounting holes.

I have 3 Edelbrocks, and they all want to idle a little higher than where they are set after driving around for a while, no matter what. I don't use the choke and have it wired open, 4 speed so no extra automatic stuff, no vacuum advance. I think that's just how they are.

because your engine is warmed up and running more efficiently. the engine oil is up to temperature the intake is heat soaked and maybe your plugs are cleaned off from cold starts and idling.
