tossing around some ideas, gonna rebuild a 68 440 for my car , but was thinking why not stroke it? but i also will be installing a 6 pack as well, but i want to run the stock hp manifolds,. this motor will never see the track.. but may see a few stop light to stop light rip, , does it make sense to stroke it and keep the iduction and exhaust i have planned??. thoughts and ideas would be great

thanks in advance

Sure it will be a torque monster, I've had a few 6BBL strokers, 383/479ci 0.040 over 383 & 4.15" stroker, 426/489ci 0.03 over & 4.25" strocker, 440/503ci 0.030"over & 4.15" stroker, all with six packs/6bbls, IMHO the HP manifolds will be the biggest killer thou, they can be ported to help some with the added flow & cubic inches, also add a 3" head pipes, H-pipe & full free flowing exhaust/mufflers, it will be impressive street brawler, great for the occasional stop light tire roasting blasts... get the proper camshaft & cylinder heads, it will be fine...

Run the numbers ($$) and ask yourself why not? It costs as much to machine the 440 crank, get new rods and pistons as it does to get a stroker kit. I was in the same position as you a year ago. I'm not a racer, but wanted to rebuild my 440. Did a 512 stroker and don't regret it at all. 600 HP and 600 TQ. MPG suffers, but it is fun for sure.

Thank you all for these useful post's. I have a 1968 440 4 bbl. That I was considering on a street build when I'm done with my #'s matching 383 H.P. for my Roadrunner. Northwest are you here in the state of Washington? I have been searching for some Mopar people around here, close to Tacoma / Spanaway area.

Not it Washington - I'm in the Great Northwest - Minnesota!!

Plenty of folks on this board - I'm sure some from nearby.
