Back in the day we cut holes in lots of subs.... Anything the needs to get in or out of a sub bigger than the hatch means we create a bigger temporary hatch... And since our drydock was in Apra Harbor with the Marianas Trench right there it was a natural test site, along with a way to elude watchful fishing trawlers that were often stationed near the mouth of the harbor...Will need to know which boats you work on so I can get a pass on THAT trip!!
Replaced a couple Sonar Domes, bent sails & a few props... You guys can sure tear stuff up... Seemed like every time it happened there was a story about a ship busting a mooring line in Diego Garcia....
Glad Skippy survived Mare Island in early 80s!!!!

Reports stating the the US Navy heard sounds of an implosion on Sunday relative to the same time the sub went missing! But those reports came out after the debris field was located. Why?
