Suggestions for Rearend upgrades?

Anyone have suggestions for upgrading my current 8 3/4 489 carrier with 3.55 gears?

Going to be building up the motor a bit, not crazy, but its a 340 car, and will stay a street car, but after talking with a friend of mine he suggested why not make it a posi since you are going to go through it any way!!!

So, what is out there for converting to posi aside for the original sure-grip?

if it is a street car with a mild motor then why not look for a good used 3rd member with a posi in it.see them for sale here and many other places all the time.save you a bunch of cash over new.two wheel hookups are so much better then"one legger's".

Why build an engine to put ample amounts of power to the pavement if you can't transfer it effectively? I say go with a NEW sure grip unit and call it a day. I installed a locker in the rear of my car for the street, but it isn't for the faint of heart.
