So I bought another project while waiting for parts to arrive for my 69 roadrunner.
I now own a 1959 sunbeam Rapier convertible. I don't know of anyone with a sunbeam rapier Convertible and I need some help. Anyone know of one or someone with one I after mainly some photos of what around the convertible top should look like. The car clubs out here in oz seem pretty useless. Any help would be great.
Thank you

Sounds interesting. How about some pictures. It's British so it won't start in the rain -;).

And since it's British, I assume that it has Lucas electrics, so it's in danger of bursting into flames at any time, just kidding (kinda). I've only seen a few of these in our area and I understand that their production numbers are pretty low. You may know that there is a Sunbeam Rapier club in the U.K. That might not help much in Australia, but if you contact them, they may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

That's because British wiring uses smoke as a conductor. When the wire fails, smoke pours out.

Have you inadvertently let the smoke out of the wires on your classic British car? This, then, is the solution to your problem!

...."Unlike the cheap, far-eastern replacement DIYsmoke offered by the "usual suppliers", this kit includes a filter to ensure that all the smoke is of consistent size, It has been our experience in our shop that the reproduction Taiwanese smoke is often "lumpy", which will cause excessive resistance in our finely-engineered British harnesses and components. This is often the cause of failure in the repro electrical parts currently available, causing much consternation and misplaced cursing of the big three suppliers."

Guys can we stop picking on Lucas electrical systems for a few minutes. I mean the lights are great for a romantic evening. That is provided you know where everything is.

All kidding aside....you might want to contact the Club here in New Zealand.....at least they'll be sympathetic towards the "Prince of Darkness" electrics :headbang:

The link above is apparently a Club car and looks to be a convertible....might be a good start for you to contact the Club. :icon_thumright:

...and I have plenty of past experience with Lucas electrical systems, as I have owned among others - several Ford Escorts, Mk3 Zephyr, Hillman Imp......
