Hey everyone, just trying to get a little help with a decision here. I've only got the cash for one but I don't know which to get. Both 1969, both 383 cars but neither comes with motor or trans..I already have both anyway, so that's a non issue. I like both, I'd be happy with either. The really hard work is done, I'd like to have them both but can only afford one. Really just trying to get something that would be easy to move if I got in a bind money wise..not putting up pics..I know one of you sneaky folks will buy them if you see them.

Roadrunner
383/727 originally
4 speed manual
Body is a+ and every part is there down to the trim
Not ac car
Air grabber hood
Missing
Gas tank, drive shaft, shifter, crossmember headliner and carpet
Originally b5 blue
Also no title which in Texas is a pain in the ***

Super bee
383/727 auto originally
Ac car
Rally gauges
All trim is there
Body also rust, dent, bondo free
Does need trunk and floor pan on driver side
Originally metallic green
Good title

I like both but I have a 68 Bee so its easy for me to say the Bee. Why start off having problems trying to get a title for a car when you can have one with a title already but thats just me. I would rather change out a couple of panels then to deal with DMV.................

Guess which I'm in favor of :icon_mrgreen:. With the missing parts and no title I would go with the Bee.

Both are the same car performance and trim level wise so it comes down to Dodge or Plymouth. The RR was the Motor Trend car for 69 so it might have an edge there, but by the time you deal with the PITA title issue it may not be worth it. It's up to you.

I'm more of a 70's Mopar guy, but Charlie's car is so awesome that I'm voting for the Bee.

69 rr's are a dime a dozen it seems, go with the bee

Does the Bee have the correct hood? If not, they can be a bummer finding a decent one under $800

Go with the Bee, the title thing for one.

Just called about the title for the RR and it seems like its 3 "easy" steps...but its going to cost me about $600 when its all said and done. I can't get anything done title wise until I get the drive train in the car. Which I have several of already. Also, has anyone ever heard of this strange loophole thing?
Vermont Title
I do agree that the rr's seem a dime a dozen, I don't find many bee's around anywhere. It really is the same car. Sadly the bee doesn't have the original hood. Man I want that hood. That Bee picture might have just swayed my opinion though. I'm going to see both later today to look at VIN numbers and find out whats what. Hopefully one was an A12 or something and someone doesn't know what they have. I'll update it when I get home.

I always thought the N96 hood on a Bee was much more dramatic than the RR version. Just a little more "muscle car" to me.

I really like the RR because the B5 color, airgrabber hood, downside is no title.

The dodge has a title, AC must be nice i Texas? nice green color, downside is the rust.

So the answer is join the scat pack! But check it for rust one or two times more, if you want to know where to look, please visit my thread...

But most important, buy one of them! :headbang:

Bee.... scarcer car,and I've had about 8 GTX's registered and daily drivers, only one 69 Bee. Loved it, miss it still, and from what you've told us, no choice... Bee. The hood? Well, if you have a flat hood, the scoops are an add on, the underhood stuff is the tough part. I seriously like them better than just the center bulge.

As much as I want this story to have a super bee happily ever after conclusion, it will not. I got to the shop and the thing was caked with bondo. A quarter inch thick on the ENTIRE body. I wish I was exaggerating...I mean, they did not miss a single spot. I'm not sure if there was some sort of bondo endorsement deal in the works at some point? But someone had obviously done it years ago, and after they did, decided they messed up a wonderful car so badly that they couldn't do anything but just try and get rid of it. The bondo on the back fender had flaked off enough to see where the body was down so far below. I have never seen anything like it. I can't understand why someone would do that to such a wonderful car. Anyway, the entire rest of the car was a rust bucket. You couldn't give me this thing. It would take months just to get down to the body to see what you are working with. The thing also had two massive dents and anything that could have rust had rust...which didn't make much sense for a "dent free" "rust free" car. The frame was straight. But rusted. The engine bay still had some of the original paint on it. The bondo man did not find the engine bay. There was not a single good thing about this car save the cool little bee on the front grill. So pour out a little motor oil for this fallen Bee sometime, truly a tragedy.

The road runner was a pretty good surprise, the guy had parts for days and really there isn't a TON to be done. Rear quarters have been replaced and the whole thing has been blasted, but will need to be redone. A bit of body work but nothing unrealistic (granted I had just seen that Bee, so anything would have looked nice) looks like all the roadrunner needs to be 1000% complete is

driveshaft
crossmember
gas tank
headliner
carpet
package tray
wiring harness
vinyl top
decklid...a little bondo on the one he has
could replace the floors or just patch
disc brakes
some a/c...texas YALL
some floor mats a trunk pad and one recovered seat. And it turns out vin states it as an ORANGE car. not B5 Blue like I was thinking originally. So after all that it needs paint of course. It also has a 383 and 4 speed from 69 not original to this car. But it is the right year. I'm probably going to make an offer this week. Will post pics if I buy it.

CharlieB Thats a beautiful Bee and pretty good back ground for a picture...

Sounds like the RR wins.. Id wager you'll be happy with it, there a nice car. Good luck with the purchase...

And it turns out vin states it as an ORANGE car. not B5 Blue like I was thinking originally.

The VIN wouldn't give you that info, the fender tag will though. My vote before and after you discovered the bee infused with bondo like it was honey would be the RR. Maybe in Michigan RRs are a dime a dozen but here in Utah at least they are scarce but actually most all Mopars are scarce around here.

I just think RRs have a lot of personality in them...the horn, the cartoon. I don't know there is just something about them that I love. My daughter is turning one tomorrow and I can't wait until she hears that horn for the first time. My car's been gone since she's been born.

Yeah, while I'd take the Bee first, you did the right thing by passing on the bondo buggy and going after the Meep'r.

and now there's another RR in the picture. 1968 383 4 speed no air metallic green with green interior and green wheels red line tires and green vinyl top. factory flat black hood. dry west texas car. Has a title Still has factory paint on the floorboards and trunk. kinda strange color combo. Is there a reasonable enough increase in resale on something like that to justify buying it instead of the 69? both about the same amount of work. Orange 69 or triple green 68? I promise I'll stop adding cars to the pile after I figure out which of these to buy..roadrunners are a dime a dozen in texas also...super bee is hard to find. But one day I'll scoop one up. Everyone needs a good RR if you ask me.

68 and a 383 with a four speed, now you´re talking!

All things equal like the amount of body work/parts needed, I'd lean towards the 69 as it's an air grabber model year, and optioned with it.
