I am still learning here and came across this designation as an option for 67 GTXs. Can someone tell me what the difference is between these and a regular street Hemi and/or is this more to do with an urban myth?
 
The super stock GTX's were known as the RO cars and the Coronets were WO and I'm pretty sure it's not a car that anyone could buy. The engine was anything but a street HEMI in function but I don't know the details, though you can figure on higher compression, headers and larger carbs. It's also very possible the Edelbrock Rat Roaster was designed for this application.

This is way out of my league, short of a lottery win, but it does claim to have one of the blocks, but with no mention of the " transistorized ignition and a dual-point distributor with no vacuum advance, metal core-plug wires, Carter 4139 and 4140 Carbs, and a free-air system that sealed the breather to the underside of the hood - which made the big, wide hood scoop fully functional." etc. etc. etc. not present.

This car also obviously has no wide hood scoop so it seems a bit odd overall.
 
i had a friend who had a 67 coronet WO car. they actually were street hemi's; 10.25 comp, in line carbs; but they had a hood scoop, heavier suspension, and if i remember correctly battery was in the trunk. they designed for SS/B class and i believe all cars were white 2dr hard tops.
 

The link from high def forum has the same car RK is selling, possibly from that 2009 meet. It seems to be a bit of a hybrid, with only the block coded to the usual SS specs. I wonder if the car would have been worth more if had been left unrestored? An earlier thread here suggests the carpet is a non-factory colour as well - that it should be a darker brown.

There are some unmolested examples around that would seem to be of more value to a collector, and for less money, but hey, with all those goodies it would be fun to drive.

Yep the 67 RO and WO cars were street Hemi's not race Hemi's. The race Hemi came out in 1964 with 12.5 comp and a bigger cam then the street Hemi. Also the race Hemi had a crossram with 2 Holley carbs and the street Hemi was 10.25 comp with an inline dual plane intake and 2 carter AFB carbs. The street Hemi came out in 1966 and was a detuned race Hemi to run on pump gas and live on the street. The race Hemi was only in the 64 , 65 and 68 factory Mopar race cars that you had to be a known racer to get your hands on one. But in 64 a guy ordered a max wedge car which anyone could buy and when he got his 64 Dodge it was a hemi since the max wedge went out of production. It is said he drove it home from the dealer. Many of the Hemi race cars came with single exh because Mopar knew the racers would just unhook the exh. And even though they could run open headers in the 60's the NHRA rule said you have to have the exh system on the car so the single exh was lighter. Ron
