Does anyone have the specifications on what the trim rings should look like for a Superbird with 15" Raylle rims? Should they be a brushed finish or polished chrome or?
Thank you in advance.

Could be either pending production timing. What is on the Broadcast sheet? 43=polished 22=brushed
I don't have the broadcast sheet. Pictures of the car when it was new show that it had Magnum 500 wheels on it. they are long gone. It currently has 14" rallye rims with 20 year old tires. I would like to go to 15" rallye wheels with the proper Goodyear F60-15 tires.

Quite a few came with road wheels (magnums) on them. Early VINs got 14" wheels and later on progressed to 15's. Mine is the 500th SBird out the door on 15's and Rallye wheels.

I had a set of Road Wheels on over the Winter while I restored my original Ralleye wheels. I personally don't like the look.

I bought new Polyglas last fall to replace my now 35 year old set. Kelsey knew to use the 9966.000 HS code to ship them duty free. That ship has currently sailed for the foreseeable future..

I totally agree that the rallye wheels look much better. I purchased a set of 15" repro wheels from Summit. 15"x7" 4.25" BS. Is that what your rims are? Have you had a chance to drive it with the Goodyear Polyglass tires yet? I'm wondering how different it felt compared to radials. This was taken just after it was unloaded from the truck, I've only had it 2 weeks.
Your car looks amazing.

Thanks and congrats on the acquisition! As I noted, I've had it on Polyglas for the 35 years that I've owned the car. The road wheels and radials were just on there for the Winter. I took it for one or two drives in the fall on those, i definitely runs smoother on them. Bias plies, you'll feel every groove in the road.... but how they were new.

Sorry I re-read your post and see that you were replacing an old set. They just so much better with bias-plys.

Put my new tires and rims on today. 15"x7", I re-used the center caps that came with the car. They are very poor quality off shore pcs. Are there any good quality reproduction center caps available?
Should they be silver or grey for a Superbird?
Thanks in advance.

70's are light Argent, 71 are dark Argent. The reproductions are a bit light I think, but hard to compare to 55 year old OE''s. These are the reproductions I bought last Fall. They look as they should, just slight darker than the rims even lighter argent.

Where did you purchase your center caps?
I bought the Firestone tires because I wanted a radial tire that looked like a bias-ply.

Member “bluebyu” over on FABO has a NIB set of light argent large bolt pattern 1970 center caps for sale for $100. Might want to race over there and check them out. I actually think he’s down to $90 on them.
