Hey guys, I'm looking at putting a 1972 model 360 and tranny into my 65 Coronet. Is this a direct swap? In yalls opinion, what kind of power gain should I expect?

Thanks.

Blackheart,

You beat me out of another worthless Poly for my collection...

What year car. The swap is easy in a 66 Belvedere I know...need to swap out the driver's side motor mount bracket because the 360 uses a different one. I think the trans even bolt up but the 360 is externally balanced and the teen isn't so the torque converter is weighted for the 60.

Fury, that's a nice looking engine!

need different drive shaft,(front yoke is different) If your cornet is collumn shift, need a shifter. exhaust is different. carb linkage is different. neutral safety wireing. Nothing impossible.

sh*t. So thats a big fat NO on the "is it an easy swap". My car isn't worth anything money wise, more centimental value. So I don't want to have to dump a ton of extra cash into it. I guess I was assuming the 360 was relatively close in external design to the 318.

Thanks.

How is the front yoke and shifter different? Push button shift ended with the 64 models and iirc, they went to the slip yokes in 65? The trans in the 65 should be a 727 and if the 360 comes with one, the shaft should slip right on in....

Thats what I was thinking? Same 727 tranny.
What exactly has to be changed when the external balanced issue comes into play?
