55K on the 2011 Ford Edge engine. I smelled antifreeze but couldn't find a leak. Didn't take long to destroy the engine. Then Ford says, "We can charge a few thousand and just replace the water pump, but you likely have bearing damage. Wanna gamble?"

I love my F150 but Ford isn't going to get another penny out of me. And I tell my friends to do the same.

I love my F150 but should have got the V8. I wish the 6.2 would have been available in a non-raptor configuration.

The hole distribution system, if it is a 4.6 ford the chain broken down the valve hit the cylinder and if the engine was at high rpm broke valves cylinders new heads etc etc and there you have your 8k IMHO.

The water pump has 2 shaft seals, an inner and outer. If the inner seal leaks water is contained by the outer seal and channeled to the outside top of the motor. You can see the bleed port in the picture below. In my case the bearing failed, causing both seals to fail. The idler ground on the aluminum timing chain cover and water entered the oil. Valve timing was also thrown off. It got ugly.
