I watched it last year & in the end, they found nothing. Now it's on again for season 2 and I can see that it'll be a repeat of last year. After each commercial break, there's about 3 minutes of recap from before the break, plus stories that they've repeated several times. Each hour long show has about 10 minutes of real content and after each episode, they come up empty.

I'm a sucker for watching buried treasure shows, but this thing is just one big disappointment. I'll admit that the show has me somewhat hooked, but rather than watching it when it's on, I just record it and fast-forward though 75% of the show.

Has anyone else watched this series on the History Channel?

No, Dicky. I haven't seen it.
But I'll tell you this is why I dropped cable TV years ago. I wasn't going to pay 70 dollars a month to watch cable news.
The History Channel has devolved into "Space aliens built the pyramids" and "Dinosaurs were killed by an asteroid".
I want real history like Lewis and Clark.
And Discovery Channel is 10 minutes of reality TV with a commercial break. When the show comes back on, they spend the first few minutes after the break telling me what the have already told me. And it wasn't that interesting the first time.
So I just hang out here. You are much more entertaining.

Yeah, we DVR'ed it too but there's just too much flashing crap on it for me to get into it. Just don't need it to keep my attention so I don't watch it anymore. And you're right about having to fast forward most of it.

Since I have been on this forum I have not watched tv, your right this place is fun enough...lol.

my wife and I watch it .seems like they waste alot of money.I like pickers and pawn stars on the history channel also

That seems to be the format for many of these type of 'reality' shows-Gold Rush, Bearing Sea Gold and Deadliest Catch are all guilty of it.

DITTO....
Heck, I'm the idiot that believed the Science Channels' "Great White shark man eater from Cape Town So Africa.. (Been to Cape Town 2 times..nice)
It was a FAKE show...!

I've been watching by fast forwarding on DVR but not too hopeful they'll find the mother load....

I have to admit that I am equally hooked. I kinda find the whole Knights Templar thing interesting. They did find a coin with what they thought was a Templar cross on it in the last episode I watched.

I gotta agree, the constant updating after every commercial is irritating. But, I think most "reality" shows do that. The whole story is extremely cool though.

Watched it, and wont anymore, very interesting just the same. All the reality shows have gone this way, it seems. Tell em, review and summarize, splice in commercials and that's the show. I still like the underwater shipwreck treasure hunt shows thou.

RC, I'm with you. I've watched it. It looked like it would be a good show. I'm like everyone else, the recaps are old and for me to continue watching they better start finding some good shat!

always a new spin to keep you watching for 10 minutes of nothing

:iamwithstupid:

I generally like allot of the History channel/Discovery network programing...

I watched last season a few times, when something better wasn't on...

I gave up,
IMHFO it was the same thing over & over, new episode, with the same results {definition of insanity}
big build up, every episode & still no treasure...

I can't bring myself to watch this season, even thou some of the teases sound intriguing...

I feel I was wasting even more time than normal, watching it...LOL

Brad Meltzer's Decoded, America Unearthed, Gold Rush...Im hooked on all of them and am always disappointed in the end. well, not so much Gold Rush cuz they actually find gold, but im gettin tired of the whining and bitchin of the crews the whole time

All TV is becoming "reality" and it all SUCKS!!! Got rid of pay tv over a year ago and I couldn't be happier. At least then when there's nothing on I know I'm not paying for it.

I watch it. The format sucks but I still do. I've been interested in Oak Island for years. I think something is down there but not sure these guys will find it.

Dig WW2 is a cool show as well and they don't have the after commercial recaps.

I have a special interest in Oak Island. Like the brothers, I too read about the possible buried treasure, back in the late 60's or early 70's. It was in Readers Digest. IIRC at that time they were just going thru the layers of dirt and poles.
I believe this show to be factual, but they have to drag it out to make a season long show. It could be that the show is now financing the operation. That prolly is why there is so much advertising. Thank goodness for DISH HOPPER digital recorder. I can't stop watching, because no one would go to that much trouble for a hoax. On the other hand, how would anyone be able to accomplish all they have found, with 1700's technology????.............................................MO

I live about 10 mins From oak island... and im sure that if they found treasure, we'd hear about it.... i watch the show solely to see people i know from the area....
