The IGNORE feature.

I do have a few people on the 'ignore' list, and it isn't because I disagree with their opinions, or that they continually say something stupid or have given me a red x or anything like that. These are the ones who clutter up my "new posts" pages with row after row of for sale items, and when looking at their post areas, 99% of everything they do is just to sell stuff.

I have nothing against for sale items, but I'm not here to purchase and so the ignore feature means less useless (to me) material to comb through.

I'm a little late to this thread, so let me just give a blanket "like" to everyone's posts...they're all good stuff.
Yeah, I used to think the 'ignore' feature was some kind of cop-out or something but not anymore. There are too many people that come around here with nothing but lib***l trolling, negativity, or at the worst...really poor advice to someone that needs some help...

I don’t use it, but sure that I am on it. Referring to it in third person is a bullshit tactic that has been used here. Not in this thread.

I don't know if any of you have noticed but I don't engage or really comment on hot button issues much anymore. It doesn't do any good as everyone has a slightly different opinion and I have to respect that. I find I am less stressed and that's what I need at this point in my life.

First off, I'd like to state that this is not a complaint thread. I don't want to bash anyone. I'd also ask that if you respond, please consider doing the same.

I have a few members on IGNORE. I won't state who they are but the ones on the list are there for a variety of reasons.
I'm not as high strung as I used to be but I still do get riled up. I find that proactive measures like the IGNORE feature can keep me from taking things too far.
It can be easy to let other members get you angry. It can be hard to see something that is so different from what you think and just let it go unanswered.
The way society has changed the past 15 years or so, we are more divided than ever. Some of us have really dug our heels in with our opinions.
It can be hard to hash out our differences when we are so far apart.

There are some members that I see engaging with others with completely opposite opinions and they often really mix it up. It took me years to understand that in most cases, arguing is pointless because the other guy is either as stubborn as I am or not willing to see the facts as they appear to me.
Some people don't use the Ignore function because they say that they don't like the idea of censoring others. While this is a noble thing, I have another take on that.
If you don't like broccoli or spinach, you just don't eat it. If a TV show is on that you don't like, you turn the channel. When a newspaper prints stuff you don't believe, you choose not to read it. That wasn't censorship, that was just avoiding what you didn't like. Those things still exist, you just don't have to experience any of it.
The IGNORE feature is like that. The people that you disagree with still are free to post whatever they want, you just don't have to see it.

In some cases, some people that I disagree with sometimes post something that makes enough sense to reconsider my position.
In other cases, the other guy seems way too far gone to give any of my time.

My point here is that using this feature may provide some relief for the members when we encounter someone that intentionally annoys us.
You'll likely never get through to that person. They may only serve to be a thorn in your side.
You might end up having a much better experience on the forum by letting them do their thing without engaging with them.

I recently had a very negative experience with a member and, as of yet, have not made up my mind whether I want to use the “Ignore “ feature, see I as a human have hope for,,,,,,,,,aww, who am I kidding! I’m going use the hell out of it!

I'm glad we're all one big happy family!

Except for the dozen or so I have on ignore

really though, when I found this forum and introduced myself I made it clear not to take me too seriously.
Humor is a relief for me and I can find humor in almost everything.
I hope in some way I've contributed some tiny amount of Mopar knowledge and meet the standard.

Were you asking to be added to the list? LOL

Too many lately that ask a question and then never bother to thank anyone for the help or even come back to acknowledge that they were given the solution to the problem.
I have seen that as well. It’s just ignorance.

I have yet to ask for help on this site but I know there are two sides to the deal. If or when I do ask for help, I would surely
thank the person(s) who helped out. It is a completely natural reaction….at least the way I was raised.
on the other hand , I have helped some and always have been thanked , or at least acknowledged.

Whole bunch of great folks on the forum and smart. Includes those who I know I’m on their ignore list. I have none on ignore. There are those who disagree with my slants; but also will send a like or agree when I post something they – like or agree with. I do the same. I’ll wish them well if they post about their troubles or grief in their life. Know some who wouldn’t post an agree if I said the sky was blue, cuz it’s me.

Ok, I get some riled up with my views, and the same with me. Could check my history, I don’t throw out personal insults. Haven’t called anyone an idiot, moron, imbecile, unpatriotic, or accused a member of being a member of a party of which they don’t belong. If anyone who has me on ignore has done so because of my attacking their character or intelligence, this would be news to me.

Some guys love Chevies, some Fords. I’m a mopar guy, been for eons, but there are some GM and Ford’s I like all day long.

Best a luck for those who don’t want to hear disagreements.

I don't have anyone on ignore on here, lots of great and helpful people on here!

I don't use ignore. I will be selective in my responses, I read a lot more then what I engage with on this board.
I am not afraid to express my opinion, because this is still America. I try not to be rude to people.
Sorry, not sorry about my grammar mishaps. I tend to post after I get home from 10-11 hours of running a factory, I try to get things right but this is not a professional communication so my interest level in correctness is diminished, I think the message is more important, and I am tired :)

I fully support people doing what they need to to enjoy life when it comes to the internet. Everyone knows certain people can't handle social interaction on the internet, even if they are great people in real life:

So sometimes it is better to simply not interact.

I use it and I am much happier not seeing the posts of a few severe malcontents. These few people just seem to disagree and argue everything. It spoils my otherwise enjoyable visits to this site. I do not miss them, nor their content in the least. Once again decorum insists that I not mention their names...but I would bet they are on a lot of "ignore" lists here.

And they probably are.

Heck, I might even be on a few !
If you are, it's far down on the list with 2 or less. I figure, as many members as we have here, all of us aren't going to get along or agree. The ignore feature is just a handy way to keep those people out of your face. It's a lot easier on your blood pressure and a lot more fun here if you aren't constantly bombarded from people like that.

That is (true)ly a hilarious math equation

I don't put people on ignore that I just disagree with, I can handle that. I put people on ignore that just post to P%&* other people off, that's why it's such a great feature.

People need to do what they need to do to maintain their level of happiness, but I don't use or need the ignore feature; and I don't intentionally give out the red X. However, I have inadvertently fat-fingered a few posts though.

This place and people are great, as well as FCBO, FEBO, and FABO with their very own unique personalities and perspectives.

The political forum is interesting and entertaining at times, but it is an entirely separate "compartment" for me. What happens in the political forum stays in the political forum. That doesn't mean I forget who posts in the political forum solely to provoke...stir excrement.

It’s a great feature. There are some here who simply have nothing to offer. No car building experience, no parts or part’s knowledge to help others. They are only here troll the Political forum and that’s about it. This time of year I am so busy I can’t be distracted by nonsense so the ignore feature simply gets rid of it. When it snows or is miserable out I have to watch out for the “winternet”. Sometimes I see what is being said by some of them and mostly I just laugh at what they write. Joey has the best Mopar site on the net and glad he has that feature.
