the NASA thread and anything related

It doesn't look that stormy. But private boats got in the way...

At least the mission was a success!

The splash down was in the Gulf, not on the eastern side of Florida where storm Isaisa is.

What's up with people getting in the way of something like this? Coast Guard should have heavily fined anyone being warned to stay out of the area and didn't.

Floridians have a reputation to uphold.
:D

I guess the CG didn't get involved since its a private venture?

Not really a private venture; NASA contracted for the ship. Not much different than when they contracted Boeing and Chrysler for the 60's space capsules.

seems like they had trouble getting the hatch/capsule door open
other than that, looked/appeared, it went off without a hitch

I highly doubt the private boats were any issue either
maybe a slight inconvenience, not the best protocol
but they weren't in the way, at all
IMO no harm...
Just don't do it again...
do some serious background checks on all boat reg. hull #'s too
you never know

it is sort of a private venture, heavily subsidized venture (taxpayers $$$)
maybe it wasn't regulated properly

BUT:
IMO they (private boats) should have stayed back a bit more
people with way too much time on their hands,
especially during the Chinese Wuhan Flu lockdown

Loved the Trump flag on the one boat going by
some patriots in the group

or we could say,
really poor security arrangements or actual enforcement

did they post it somewhere, to keep 16 klm back ?
(10 miles) I would think it would be sort of common sense
to stay back some, but 10 miles (is that necessary ?)
was/is it common knowledge for that buffer zone ?

It's been 45 years since we had a splash down
