A few more details, the fellow member of my group mentioned is a staunch Christian in his 70's who had tasted beer once decades ago. We had dinner before karaoke and their version of whisky was practically being forced down our throats (Kampai!!). Out of respect, my Christian comrade drank their specialty distillate, in spite of his convictions. He got drunk, and that was somewhere he had never been before in his life. He was upchucking about every 20-30 minutes. I took care of him at the karaoke bar, and eventually found a ride for us both back to the hotel.
The next morning, he looked so incredibly embarrassed my heart went out to him. He felt he had embarrassed our group by throwing up so much, and then relying on me to get him back to his room. SO, I said to him, "I really owe you a debt of gratitude for helping me out last night." He looked at me bewildered and said nothing. I continued, "They were handing out young women for who-knows-what-end-means, and I so love my wife that I was desperately seeking a way out of the situation. You gave me the ideal excuse to flee the scene. Please know just how much I appreciate you helping me out last night. I owe you a big one!"
His demeanor brightened, we ate our breakfast and got on with the day. When he told my wife she had nothing to worry about, and she said I already told her, he asked if I also mentioned 'the night before'; of course she said yes. However, you are the first to know outside us 3 since the incident.
