We used to have "Home Economics" that covered most of this stuff.

We used to have parents that covered all of this stuff.....mine did. I remember all 6 of us kids lined up on the sofa with a ball of yarn and knitting needles learning to "knit one, pearl two'"....also with Mom at our elbows teaching us to cook all manner of dishes and to bake, which is what she did for money, bake wedding cakes.

Home ec in 1977, basic financial class 1978 (mandatory classes) and wood shop, metal shop classes available too. THEY WERE grade school classes!! Still make a decent 3 egg cheese omelet!!

Mom & dad had cab company 1969 to 1976, ALWAYS out there with dad checking/working on cabs, 67 & 68 Furys with 318s. Small enough to do points & condensers without damaging fenders and chipping paint. Grandpop was a "left foot resting on brake pedal" type driver, boy, dad was pissed about all the brake shoes pop tore up!! "DAMN YOU CHARLIE!!!"
