I can't stand the phrase, "all buttoned up". Especially, when a man says it about finishing a task on his classic car.
 
I would suggest the term "all buttoned up" came from aircraft engine cowlings and their Dzus fasteners of the early days. They look like "buttons"! Hence all buttoned up Captain!

I'm going to put in an aftermarket stereo system in the car & it's been decades since I shopped for one. Pioneer & Alpine were top names for radios & Jensen triaxials were the speakers to get. Car radio stores where you could test them out seem to be a thing of the past so today, what's a decent easy-to-use radio, 6X9 speakers and amp to go with these days?

I bought a nice single DIN Kenwood with HD radio, USB, and Bluetooth, Alpine Amp, Kenwood speakers and a powered compact sub for the Coronet. It sounds very good but I don't use it much. I went cheaper on the Cuda with Boss Audio radio and Kicker speakers no Amp or sub. It sounded good enough for who it's for.

The portable Bluetooth speakers are so powerful and sound so good I would definitely look into that before making up your mind.

I personally am not a fan of a modern looking radio sitting in the dash of my car, so I had an original AM radio converted to Bluetooth, AM/FM, hands free phone call ability, etc. I think it works great. My only gripe is that I can't see where I am tuning if I tune in a FM radio station, but I listen through Bluetooth 98% of the time, so that is a minor inconvenience.

It looks totally stock, and I routed the microphone to the slot in the ash tray to out out cigarettes (I don't smoke). If I get a phone call, I open tthe as tray to talk! (Sorry, no picture of this, but I can take one if needed!)

I also highly suggest a subwoofer. My car is not one of those cars you hear bass from three blocks away, but the small subwoofer I added does a really nice job of providing deep bass sounds. It really makes the sound system in my car sound very modern. I mounted my subwoofer on a board that sits behind the back seat. The subwoofer speaker points into the trunk.

I have a low profile sub mounted under the passenger seat. It gives the passenger good vibrations. I recommend placement elsewhere if you frequently have passengers listening to tunes.

I too have the Classic Auto Air with those same controls. Do you find the temp and fan controls to be weird? The graphic on the panel doesn't seem to clearly show what the direction of the sliders does. The red/white/blue sucks. As I wait for the air to get to the temperature I want, I don't know if all the way forward is heat or A/C. It is a crap design.

It's a real guessing game reusing the factory controls. The E body controls are much better.

Yeah, I agree the controls aren't the most intuitive I have ever used. But the system tells you pretty quick once it's on!
 
The back end is a little high for my liking. I still have to put in the seats and a full tank of gas, but that's still only a couple hundred pounds. I'm hoping that the leaf springs will settle in once I start driving it.

springs will settle some after some spirited driving, over time
