I bought a new Super Bee in February, 1969. While it was optioned out pretty well, it did not have a radio or antenna. When I asked the salesman about having a radio installed by the dealership, his reply was interesting. He explained that whenever this dealership ordered a "hot car" (his term), for inventory, it was ordered without a radio. Rear deck antennae were a popular fad at the time, but the factory never installed them there on B-bodies. If a radio was ordered, the front fender would be punched with a hole for the factory antenna, but by not ordering a radio, this was not done. The salesman said I could pay the option price (about $55.00), and the dealership would install a factory AM radio, and place the antenna anywhere I wanted it. I marked out a spot on the rear passenger quarter, ahead of the stripe with masking tape, and it was done. That was my experience, at least.
