I have two of my 7 mopars that have TKO-600 5-speed transmissions with the 36% over drive that are bolted to a 426 aluminum head very healthy Max Wedge in a 63 Sport Fury convertible and a 432 cu in 426 Hemi in a 66 Coronet 500 convertible and currently run P-255-70R-15 tires on the rear and P225-70R -15s on the front--looks great--handles great BUT--both cars will do 140 in 3rd gear according to my GPS 200 mph speedometer and Id like to put W-or Y-or Z rated tires on these cars but most are very short and I dont want the cars to look like match box cars. So I was hoping some one might know of tires to fill the bill. The fronts are 27.37 tall and 7.2 wide at the tread and the rears are 29 inches tall-and 8.20 wide at the tread ---To be clear--I dont plan on doing alot of hi speed driveing but Id feel alot better about moments of insanity with higher rated tires--16 or 17 inch rims would be fine as I will most likely need the taller rims to get the look .

Well, you won't find "speed rated" 15" tires, that's for sure

I’m running 285/40 17R Nittos In the back and 245/45 17 R in the front. W rated tires. I’ll never go that fast ever with my T-56 Magnum but I do like the better performance tires.

Sorry - won't be found in 16 or 17 either. You won't find a street tire with high speed ratings over 26-27 inch diameter unless you go to the huge size of wheel you don't want.

Nitto 555 G2 are speed rated 17"tires, 27+" tall. I have a pair of 255/50x17s on the back of my 57 SD. Z speed rated.
They also make 15" v and w speed rated 15" tires...... but they are drag radials, and wont have great tread life.

I forgot to mention my 285 G2 are basically 26” tall. I flirted with the idea of going with 275/50 17r. They are almost 28” tall. All Nitto 555 G2 tires are W speed rated.

Take a look at Toyo, the Proxes lineup has a variety of performance tires. I'm very happy with the TQ drag radials, but there are other use tires in the Proxes line. Also Continental Extreme Contact and Khumo like the Ecsta.
