i have the inspection cover off the tko

going to dry up everything as best as i can then going to splash some baby powder up around the area. also will setup a gopro to video to see if it can capture anything

update - might be an issue with posting pics on the website or my device but anyhow - looks like leak is flowing from oil pressure port on top of engine and flowing into the bellhousing. attached pic is after oil and port cleaned up

yes - shifts just get assisted into place due to the SST shifter engineering. it feels damn good.

i think next thing up is get a few more runs around the neighborhood then venture out to busier streets and do a freeway run.

didnt stall out during first run but not feeling to confident yet....more practice

...so project is officially done....

i proposed i would hang the SST sticker on the 66 Coronet but couldn’t find a spot. so, it will go on the welder.

give me disagreeing Red Ax’s to lock this thread or Green Check Marks to keep this going...i’ll graciously let the people’s voices be heard on this

My guess is a weekend if you have a car lift and no distractions. That assumes that you have all the tools you need and run into no snags along the way.

before you start chopping the center console brackets out keep the rear one in (partially - see pic). i found i had to weld it back in but just chop it in half.

I have converted cars from automatic to 4 speed in a few days but that was using all factory parts.
I've been looking through the instructions here and there are some procedures involved here that go well beyond a stock for stock parts exchange.
The bell housing centerline runout, correction if needed......Hydraulic clutch setup....Measuring and cutting the floor for clearance, etc.
I thought this was a NO cutting deal! I thought the only cutting was the hole for the shifter. I'm okay with that, I just didn't know that there was this extra step.

Currently in the process of installing my SST kit with a 5.7. So far I believe the only cutting I've had to do was the shifter hole in the floor, which in my case has to be QUITE large as my car was an auto, I think the hole is about 12x16 at this point. There's a plug in the firewall for the clutch slave so you just have to drill three mounting holes for that and two holes for the clutch pedal bracket. I may do some further cutting for any other modifications but AFAIK the big a** hole for the shifter is the only cutting.

If you're competent bending more complex shapes in to sheet metal you shouldn't have much trouble bending the SST sheet metal to fit the floor but in my case I'm planning to fab something up myself to make things a bit more serviceable.

i forgot already...your sst docs should have a template for you to tape and mark out the area to cut. cut within the lined area.
