Haven't been watching drag racing on TV for awhile now but did record the race at Texas and watching it now and they had top qualifiers sitting on a saddle but not on a real horse????.....oh crap, no way!! I have nothing wrong with sitting on a saddle so long as the saddle is on a 'real' horse!!

Obviously, some kind of marketing ploy. I haven't watched any racing in a few years since the whole world went nuts and were wearing face masks!
I do attend live drag racing a few times a year, like the Mopar Nats and another Mopar race in Norwalk OH.

At that track they like to play pretend cowboys. The race winners get big 10 gallon hats along with the Wally.

Would be cruelty to horses having them at the track for the races, they wouldn't like it.

Houston Raceway Park was in an area where there was live stock etc....plus there was a trailer park right across the street from it and well, never heard anyone complaining about their animals freaking out.

Well that's good, but they might like to have them there at the race for the drivers to sit on. Just like the Texas college football team with a live longhorn at the game.

NHRA Marketing crap, big business now, some of that stuff is lame
I wish they gave me a saddle back in the day, I'd have used it for sure
way, way better than most the plaques & plastic trophy I'd get

Not For Profit, my lil' white ***,
they just pay executives more so it doesn't profit
everyone else is treated like pissants, always been an issue
won't change soon either

NHRA has always been cheap asses when it comes to payouts
the Mission Foods, Too Fast Too Tasty Challenge
for the pro's (races in qualifying) stimulates the teams now
Pro's payouts are a joke otherwise, not even close to cost, for each event
& some of the sportsman classes make decent $$, with contingencies $$/sticker $$
'for sportsman classes', competition eliminator, but you have to go a lot of rounds
