Hey guys. I'm leaning heavily on swapping the poly 318 to a 440 and I want to stay with the push-button shift. I am in the market for a big block 1964 torqueflite trans. Is the early push-button 383 setup the same or compatible? Thanks in advance!
Russ.

The 383 tranny will work with the 440
Thanks for the info. I, like a dumbass, let a friend of mine scrap a 383 w/trans because I was thinking 383 small block!

You should be able to use any big block 727 from 62-64. They should all use the push buttons and dash mounted park lever.

With some conversion parts, you can also use newer transmissions. See these guys for advice:

Thanks, will be checking this site out. Meanwhile, guess I'll be scanning CL for a 62-64 car to scavenge.
