Ok, so I am into a 1969 Coronet front suspension rebuild. K frame painted and installed back in the car. LCA's rebuilt and ready for installation to K member. Upper control arms are just hanging-no upper arm bump stops installed yet, no shocks. I plan to install the LCA's, strut rods, and then torsion bars. I have identified them (bars) stamped R and L respectively. Car is up in the air suspended on subframe rails. New torsion bar adjustment nut is backed all the way off. Question is, when installing bars into the LCA, should the pivot part of the LCA "hex" be resting against the torsion bar adjustment nut stop? (see last photo posted) I hear various talk about these needing to be "keyed." The more I read the more questions I have and less answers. 1969 service manual makes no mention of this in the torsion bar installation instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

I leave the bar and bolt out until the bars are in. Then I put the bar and bolt in.

I think you'll find there is no "keying". The LCA can dangle but the part that the T-bar slips into will only fit in one position - you'll see what I mean.

You must install the struts before the LCA's are slipped into place - leave all nuts loose. Then you can install the T-bars and everything else. I left the adjusting nuts and screws out till all those things were in.

Have you installed the boots on the t-bars yet ??
