Trying to get torsion bars out of 69 Sport Satellite.Somewhere along the line someone removed the seals so they must be filled with dirt. The bars are about half inch out the back end.Lubricated with WD 40 .That is as far as they will come out.My torsion bar tool is taking a beating.Losing patience had too walk away.

Use some penetrating fluid, but just a stupid ?, did ya take out the doohicky thing before ya started????

Is your suspension completely unloaded? Upper Control Arm bumpers out? Torsion bar adjusting bolts all the way out? That bar on the backside also sits in a socket like it does in the front where it meets the Lower Control Arm. I guess the backside of the bar could have gotten corroded from Dust/dirt/road grime being packed into the front portion of the torsion bar crossmember. I'd make sure the suspension is 100% unloaded and then like these guys said, douse the living heck out of the backside of the bar if it's not budging after that. Good luck!

Got torsion bars out.The numbers are 039R and 049L. I can't find those numbers any where,The numbers according to Galen book are 1857777 L and 1857776 R.Anybody got any ideas what these numbers are from.

Dont worry about "Galen's numbers" in my opinion, on THIS issue.
I have numbers on the ends of my 70 Superbee and they are simmilar.
My 70 Bee has never been touched or had the bars replaced.
