Man you guys are brutal, it took 17 posts before anyone even addressed his question. You scare me (and probably others) from asking even a simple question.

Your observation indeed has merit.
It's a constant balancing act.
Being on the car internet for decades, often a "simple" question is asked, and numerous simple replies are shared, seldom blatantly wrong face value, but may have hidden inaccurate assumptions buried within, that if not addressed, I have read later over the years they get repeated by others, often as gospel.
At the least I hope OP's are better informed by this process, as the replies are to help everyone achieve a better understanding, not just the OP.
Bottomline, no sincere question is without merit. Everyone here at one time knew absolutely nothing, and most of us here are on the same road, just at different locations.
And my reply here might fit your example you note above, and if so, I'm sorry.
Others will share their own critiques.

The man asked what you might think is a simple question but the thing that he was planning was neither safe nor wise. Many, myself included, knew the dangers that could happen if the OP went ahead with his idea.
It would be irresponsible to give advice to go ahead with it. THIS is why some members chose to steer the narrative away from his original idea.
It has become popular to say that There are no stupid questions but people with common sense know this is a lie.
The 300 lb lady that asks Does this dress make me look fat?
The guy that puts dual 750 Holleys on a 318 Will this make my car run 11s now?
In this case, the OP was asking for advice on a topic that could have caused harm to someone so the members here wisely responded with appropriate advice.
If some dude that is new to classic cars were to ask about what oil to use, what spark plugs are the best or what mufflers sound great, nobody in their right mind would treat him unfairly.
