Hi FBBO,

I recently restored the trunk lock latch for a 1968-70 B-Body and possibly other models as well. I wanted to share the process in case someone finds it useful in the future.

I completely disassembled the latch, zinc-plated the steel parts, and reassembled everything. However, keep in mind that the piece where the bar will be connected to the lock is made of aluminum and cannot be zinc-plated. Instead, I sandblasted that part, and it turned out great.

If you have questions do not mind to ask. I can provide the measurements of the rivets as well.

Below are some pictures showing how the latch is reassembled:

VERY nice BUT Germany is a long way to ship stuff for resto!

Reproduction units are $75. versus your refurb charge plus $20 each way shipping and long turnaround time. Hmmm! Don't quit your job just yet !!

Well, it wasn’t intended as a way to promote my services. I just wanted to demonstrate how the mechanism works in case someone wants to repair their own. Additionally, I would provide the technical drawing so that custom rivets could be made.

Nice stuff but when prices get involved, the thread turns into a sale thread? Yennes can probably help the ones that live on his side of the 'pond' and yet let us on the other side to see some incite on the procedure......let's not turn this into an ad. Thanks.
