If those are old-school steel cragars try running an ultralite wheel...it ought to save you 10 lbs...

They make aluminum repops.... Sprinkle with a few steel shavings and some vinegar and they would look like they had been in the garage since the 70s...

What is faceplating?........................MO
they take out the brass rings and syncros and face plate the gears like this makes it nearly impossible to miss a shift

i think i am going to try some carb spacing first and even some different length header extensions!
longer collector extensions will take power off the top end and put it on the low end. sometimes people over gear.

judging from my mph and my 60' i feel i need to make up more in the 60' then on the top end!

60' 1.64-65 1/4 mile mph is 113

E85, taller front tires and lower the nose as much as possible.

the front end lifts when going down the track, look at a video of your car, get a floor jack & raise car up like it is in the video, set the toe in alignment to 0 & also air up the front tires to the maximum air pressure.

You'll like the face plating, I loved mine. I just couldn't get a 833 to live in my dart. To damn heavy for the power.

Trying to learn here, I get the tire pressure but what does setting the toe in do??? Thanks cdr!

Our old Mopars have bump steer, when the car goes up & down the toe changes, it can be corrected by bending the lower balljoint arm up or down depending on the car, or just jack the car up & set the toe.

my car would toe in .5 more than it had at ride height when the front was lifted, I have fixed that now. some cars may toe out when lifted.

If I'm understanding correctly being that the toe was other than 0 deg, the tire would have increased drag???

If this guy corrected all this, he would go faster .

Tell me how you would correct this condition? Though this car may have toe change what we are witnessing here is not caused by that. Many people have a theory as what causes this, it is very common in many cars that pull long wheel stands. My theory is that when the front end lifts the track becomes narrower. When it sets down (the quicker it falls the worse the condition) the tires scrub when the track returns to it's normal width. I've seen mine do it after a hard wheel stand when the rebound on the shocks was to loose causing a quick jerk style wheel stand rather than an extended smooth one. Mine has also been reworked for zero toe change. Personally my car showed no improvement when it the toe curve was corrected. A smooth low wheelie is the key.

for one thing tall wheel stands are a waist, & I am sorry YOUR car did not pick up with the toe fixed, I have fixed toe problems on many drag cars, some picked up & some did not, the OP asked for help, as you know every little thing you can do ads up.

How does face plating affect regular street driving? ..............................MO
It does change it some is not as smooth when not under WOT conditions but it is still very drive able you just have to adapt the way you drive!
