Trying to pick up an extra .05 to .10!

Does your car pull the wheels up out of the beams?

the front end lifts when going down the track, look at a video of your car, get a floor jack & raise car up like it is in the video, set the toe in alignment to 0 & also air up the front tires to the maximum air pressure.

x2. With a stick, shock settings and air pressure are critical. the more tire pressure in the back you have the faster you'll go and by tuning the shocks you can run more air pressure and still plant the tires. I also agree - to be competitive you have to be a bit faster than the index. A friend that raced S Eliminator had the index by .8, and his SS/GT car is close to that too.

I had a Tim Hyatt built soft loc. Cruised it around on the street for a bit. Only made 3 passes at the track before it blew the teeth off second gear..

I went through 3 hemi four speeds in a pretty short period. After that I put a TF in. Might do a jerico some day. The one in the video was sweet, had a 2.93 first gear! That hurt to break that..

what was the engine combo the trans wasnt the problem the setup on the clutch was off! these transmissions can only take about 1300#s plate pressure total and if you exceed that they will break mine is a dead stock 23 spline 2.66 first gear box and i have never broke a thing yet because i make it slide the clutch a little down low and use counter weight on the high side to lock it up!

also you have to break power on the shift if you try to shift them clutch less they will break because your not slowing the clutch down enough to slow the counter weight clamping pressure in able to get a run at it

Might try a cool can also. I made one back in the day. run your fuel line in coils inside a coffee sized can and fill with ice. Put a pit cock in it so you can drain the water between rounds. It will cool the intake charge.

I misspoke in my earlier post with 25lbs, braim dead. Hoever this is getting far to tough with a easy solution. I garantee there is way more than 100lbs of weight on that thing that is easily removable. Personally I'd pull as much as possible to get below index. More than .02 over index wont get you very far. Way easier to slow it up than speed it up.

I had the base turned down, but you gotta figure the car is 3800# with me and is around the 700hp mark. Just more than what them things are ment to handle. It's a quick street car, usually runs 10.30's at a good track with a 727. If I gotta lift between gear changes to make the 4 gear live then it's not the right 4 gear for me.

All iron hemi

If your car has rear drum brakes & has the finned drums, try to find some smooth one, they're lighter. Less rotating weight.

I disagree about it being to heavy and to much power i know of a low 9 sec car that runs a 833 with a hemi and has no issue its all in the clutch setup and he weighs 3800#s and doesnt lift either!

wanted to update this thread i added a 1 inch carb spacers, tipped the back of the hood up and 1 pound tire pressure and was able to get the car to go 11.94 @ 115mph right where i need it to be for 12.0 index

Run less gas in your tank...gas is about 7lbs per gallon. I you are running more than 5 gallons you are using up too much weight it just gas.
I have a fuel cell. I drained it empty and then used a yard stick to mark where the fuel level came to on the yard stick. I run EXACTLY 4 gallons of gas on each run. I check it after every run and fill the fuel cell back up to 4 gallons so I know that every single run the car is at the same exact weight. (by the way, I use right at 1 gallon of gas on each run, which includes driving from the pits up to the staging lanes, doing the water box, making the run and driving back to my pit stop) Plus...like the other guys on this Racers Hangout I am very **** about every run being exactly the same as best as I can control it....1) Same amt of gas for same car weight 2) Same RR tire air pressure 3) Same water box rpm and time in the box,etc 4) Same Launch RPM 5) Same shift points. I have a Go-Pro clipped to my helmet and video every run to verify I did same thing every run...gotta have info to make right decisions...
