Another delay, in reading other cooling related posts I found out about the spring that is supposed to be inside the lower radiator hose. I checked mine and no spring, so I ordered from CJ's Pony Parts. My car has been sitting too long, starting to look like a barn find...

I got the radiator hose spring from CJ and installed it yesterday, perfect fit! I buttoned up everything, crossed my fingers, and she started right up and ran good. I took it for a short ride but ran out of time so did not check the timing. I hope to do that tomorrow and crank in more initial then start seat-of-the-pants tuning...

OK, I hooked up my fancy new Innova timing light and checked her out this morning. Without adjusting anything the initial was at 20 degrees and the total was 34 degrees at 2250 rpm. I decided to leave it alone and do a test drive. Summer is already kicking our butt in Texas, its about 92 with a heat index of 104, so the A/C was on for my whole trip. I stopped and got some gas then drove for about 30-40 minutes mixing regular stop and go with some highway at 60 to 70 mph. So far I'm very pleased! It pulls harder and smoother in all gears and revs more willingly. It does not seem to be straining at higher speeds like it did before. I did not notice any pinging although with my lousy hearing and those damn loud mufflers who knows? - at least nothing obvious. The best result was that the temp gauge stayed at 190 most of the time and never got above 200, first time I can say that in hot weather since I've had the car. I'm going to recheck total timing at 2500 rpm and maybe fiddle a bit but for now I'm glad this last project has paid off.

When I purchased this car two years ago it had the windshield decals on it from Power Tour 2014. I've been watching Facebook posts about this years Power Tour going on now and I imagined someone trying to make a long road trip in this car in the shape it was in when I got it. Here is what I have had to fix over the last two years:

• Marginal and mis-adjusted clutch
• Worn out transmission and loose linkage
• Out of tune carb running way too rich
• Timing and advance curve way off
• Ignition problems including too much resistance
• Serious overheating and fuel percolation problems

Now maybe some of these weren't there in 2014 but I doubt it, I imagine whoever Toured this did not have a very good experience...

I took my car to the Southwest Mopar Mini - Nationals car show in Garland, TX on Saturday, met a a lot of great car people and maybe a few potential buyers for my car. They had a lot of B-body cars and a nice turnout of spectators and it was a good location with lots of grass and shade trees. I had my car judged by a panel of three judges and I won second place in my class!

This car has been for sale since last August and finally sold. The new owner picked it up today and headed back to Nebraska. Thanks again to Hemmings Motor News and their online site and thanks to all the experts on this forum for assisting me during my ownership. I intend to remain onboard here, if I buy another car it may be a B body!

Well it didn't take too long for this to happen. I have moved up from B-body to C-body, found a 1966 Dodge Monaco 9-passenger Wagon. California/Nevada rust free car with about 90% original paint. It has the 383-4V, torqueflite, power windows and seat, and dual factory air. It showed up about two weeks ago and is a nice driver, although I really need to get that A/C working here in Texas! I'm over in FCBO with this if anyone wants to follow.
