Unbelievable: Sold car now he want's his money back

RC in suspense.. Sounds like a oxymoron.
I have not heard back from him as of yesterday, And I have not contacted him. Expect he will be calling today.
Wife is concerned about repercussions he might do.
Maybe I should start a poll.
I am liking all the suggestions here. Namely POUND SAND.
If I do get it back I'll be sure to let VANDAM know.
Stay tuned.

I would be interested in knowing just what he see's in the car that tells him it's a 4 dr conversion.....just the way I think even if I'm 100% sure on the car being originally a 2dr. Funny how I watched a GY Cars show last night where they are getting ready to use a 4dr platform to rebuild a 2dr car. I already knew that most of the stuff from the cowl down is the same on lots of models but like already mentioned, you have to be good to 'fix' the areas that are 4dr only on the platform to make it absolutely right and not noticeable. One similar example is taking a roof from a 66-67 Belvedred 4dr sedan and putting it on a 2dr sedan is removing the B pillar and re-attaching it in the right place for the 2dr and making it look right once removing it.....it's actually easy.

And btw, his name isn't Bob with a last name starting with an M is it? If it is, I'd offer him a 2" diameter dowel rod with one end rounded a bit and the other end nailed to a square piece of plywood.....he'll know what to do with it.

He might calm down and find a simple issue to fix. A friend sold by internet, a restored 63 427/410 Galaxie to an older guy out in CA last year. It was not a perfect car but very nice - a few things in the interior could be a little fresher. Man, he called my friend up after it arrived and complained about all sorts of nit-picking stuff - surprisingly none of the interior details. The only thing he complimented on was the condition of all the exterior aluminum and stainless trim, which I had spent about 9 months straightening, polishing and detailing for him. My friend finally stopped answering his night time calls, but after a few months he got curious and called the guy. He apologized for his earlier rants and said he was having a lot of bad times right then (I don’t think he told his wife he was buying the car). He said it was a really nice car and he was happy with it. They’ve have talked a couple of times since.

all sales final. you can’t feel sorry for or speculate his issues . what ever his problem is it has nothing to do with you .

No, no, no, a thousand times NO ! You have NO IDEA what's transpired with that car the minute it left your premises. There is NO WAY I would remotely consider taking it back. So many things could have occurred since. Example: he's pissed, so he's thrown metal filings inside the valve cover. Do you have his name and address ? File a police report, then.

he's not trailering a car 5 hours unless he's sure he's getting his money back....... tomorrow will be 7 days, F that A hole

You might want to check, but you shouldn't have any legal obligation to take it back unless there was a "X" day money back warranty written or implied.

I had a 68 Chev many years ago I sold for $800
The guy was not really into it as much as he was hoping to be
He came back a month later and asked if I wanted it back
Car was in the same condition as it left in
I bought it back for $500

If you are sad at all you let your baby go you can always make an offer to buy it back for what ever price you like but at this point it is not returning his money type of deal
All cars as is where is Once out the driveway no longer your problem ......

The Buyer reeks of desperation

Desperate people will concoct wild and dillusional stories. Corresponding with them will only enable their dillusions.

OP: Please stop communicating with this person. It will only escalate. If this guy has any legal standing, a lawyer would take his case on-condition of judgement; but if the car is how you say it is, then no plaintiff attorney will work without a retainer, mainly because his claim has no legal merit.

TLDR: Don't invite this guy into your life.

Lol, you should do a poll. Line up the responses you think are appropriate and tell him your buddies have been getting a kick out of the story. They recommend I tell you to:

1) Pound Sand (39%)
2) F@ck off! (21%)
Etc….

the buyer came to you.... same as if he went to a business to buy......... he did his due diligence on sight and you accommodated his wishes with his "lot lawyer" present. He made the purchase.
If you were a car dealer he would have no cooling off period unless you went to him door to door and made the deal.
Its over
Do not reply or say anymore to Him !

Bending to him it all would be like admitting you cut up a 4 door to make it a 2 door. That would be lying on your part.

Sold my 64 Savoy Monday, came from Ohio with a friend to look it over.
Had it up un the lift so they could look it over good.
They looked at it for nearly an hour.
Made the deal Cash and I drove it onto his trailer.
Yesterday he calls and said I want to return the car. WTF.
He said he thinks I made a 2 door out of a 4 door.
I told him the vin will tell you it is a 2 door.
Said he did not believe me and wants to bring it back and get his money Baack.
And he could not get it started and had to push it off the trailer. I started it several times and drove it up on to his trailer.
NOW WHAT TO DO? Buyers remorse.
repercussions?
Take it back. Sell it for more money. Honestly, I’d read your BOS carefully. Does it say “sold as is where is without warranty after an inspection?” What state did the sale occur? Can he sue you in another state and require you to hire an attorney there? Are there any misrepresentations?
Not a lawyer but can tell you it may not be worth the hassle.

Just talked to him, he had another guy look at it at his place, That guy said to him that the area that where the 1/4s were replaced looked a little wavey.
First thing he did when he got here was look down both sides of the 1/4s and said they looked good. Now they look wavey.

Did your bill of sale say "as is". If so, you're in the clear.
