Update on the thief!

I'm sorry, but that's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. The simplest thing for any crook to do is make a fancy website. They can spend $50 and look like they have a thriving business doing a million bucks a year in sales. I've gotten to the point where I just go to shows or cruises and ask for references.

I was thinkin the same thing. One of the dead best body and paint men around here doesn't even let his kids have cell phones, much less has internet.

If it bothers you that bad, just lay wait for the guy somewhere and choke his eyes out of his head.

The POS moved out, bailed on his lease, basically after no-pay rent for 3 months, he had to go, landlord kicked him out. So, getting the other two owners of cars this bozo was 'working on' there to take their cars back facilitated this move out. They're happy, but I still am out $3055.00 to this POS! So, I got a 93 Ram 250 that needs to be painted, most of the prep work is done to the vehicle, going to haul it to a few shops Monday or Tuesday to get estimates on painting pricing. Urgh!!!!

Donny, can you take him to small claims and get some of your money back? I'm sure with statements from the other owners and your pictures and invioce records, i would think that maybe you could recover your loss and maybe some extra.

I agree, it's probably the best most timely & econonically/reasonable cource of action now... if he ever has any money, tax returns, cash in a bank acount &/or or sell his house or property, it will automatically be taken out, before he gets his share... I believe you can sue for & get upto $7500 in Small Claims Court now {at least in California anyway}....

Texas us 10K in small claims court. What I seek is a judgement against him, and I can levy his taxes and IRS documents this way. The court can't make him pay, but, I can shove some unearned income down his throat, and he'll have IRS issues for YEARS as he never will claim money I payed him as income. Plus, it will soil his name and reputation. The other two are onboard with me on this adventure.

What started this was one of the other customers cars he was playing with, never getting anything done on was a 69 Chevy truck, here's the PM I sent this owner through Facebook.

Hi Jeff,
Just an FYI, I'm having lots of issues with Robert delivering on his word and delivering a quality product. How and why you need to know this is simple; I media blasted your truck, and all the parts for it, Robert has not payed me for any part of this deal except the initial earnest money when I took it in in early April this year. I've attempted to work a deal with him allowing him to not pay me (because he said he has no money) by having him paint the 1993 Dodge truck I've restored for a customer whereas it would be a win-win deal, and chalk it up to perhaps Robert had a bad run on something financially, but, this bad run is continuous and frankly I can't afford to support him this way anymore. I'm not sending you an invoice for work rendered on my end for your truck because I assume you have payed him for this service -- but he has not payed me for delivering your truck to him completing my end of the deal.
What I'd like to see is Robert pay me, and I in turn pay him for a quality paint job, but, I don't see any of this happening. It was me that got your cab married to your chassis, not sure if you knew this or not. All I want is to see this resolved. However, I'm not asking you to intervene, I'm just informing you of this situation. I may have to bring a law suit against Robert as he keeps B.S.'ing me on every facet of this deal, and write off as a loss the amount of money he owe's me, and of course I'm stuck with a truck that needs to be painted still.
Thanks, and hope this information is informative to you.

Knowing the IRS, they will wait a few yrs, then come after him for the income that he didn't but they will also nail his *** with interest.

Yeah but if you choke his eyes outta his head, you can stand over his cold dead grey body with enormous satisfaction. Ask me how I know. ;)

I'm not going to agree about the website part of it. The body/paint guy I use works out of his one car garage in the back of his house. No website or anything. Gets all his business by word of mouth, and he always has at least a few cars in his lot that are there for work. And he does a great job. Not to mention one of the cheaper guys around because he has little to no overhead.

Yeah, the website thing is debatable, but, in today's world you must have an electronic presence, period. Word of mouth is good, but, just look at this site, I mean we're all over the world looking at one another's car **** -- something word of mouth won't satisfy in this case.

Donny, just a question. If you claim this on your taxes, then if you do win the judgement does that mean the irs gets it or does it become out of your hands and the IRS will do what they do against this guy?

don't know about your side of the border but up here you write it off on your tax's and if sometime down the road you get it, somehow, you would put it back in as income and pay the appropriate tax's.
good for you donny. over the years i have taken some big hits and some small hits. if a guy goes down the shitter losing everything including his house, stupid me for not seeing it. you can't get blood from a stone.

I'm going to bring a small claims lawsuit on him. He failed in his business, got kicked out of his shop, didn't pay his rent...the next 'restoration/body shop' he went to fired him for basically the same stuff. Sad thing is he has conned SO many people into paying him to fulfill their dreams, and he establishes his credibility by waving his SEMA passes, Chip Foose autograph, you know, useless stuff. The age-old truth is does the Rubber meet the Road? In his case, no way!

:iamwithstupid: Donny, Good idea, it sounds like he's a real loser, I hope you got something filed with the courts, with-in the statute of limitations, there are time limits.... Good Luck & I wish you all the best...

This guy sounds like hes an expert at the con, sometimes when they get caught doing this crap, you end up finding worse on him.. A real pro at it and you doing all this will put a stop to a lot of future headaches he may have caused. Hopefully this gets around fast before he has a place to get started elsewhere. I hope the small claims court gos well in your direction, others he did this to can take a little peace with him getting called on this crap he pulled.
