Upper control Arm problem

I don't know of a quality made reproduction or factory replacement UCA. Just the thin China crap. Aftermarket is a different story.

Are you guys running the Moog bushings and Upper ball joints ?

I want to order the parts for rebuilding my factory originals

Thanx Scott

I use Moog a lot.
Some of aftermarket ones are great though I stay away with anything that has Hime joints for my street cars.

Am I misreading something here? I thought the upper ball joints were screwed in not pressed??? Never messed with a 72 but dont imagine something like that has changed that much...

Not sure on the years, if i remember correctly (old age and all that) but i have seen both pressed and screwed. My 1974 Charger SE has screwed in balljoints, need a special socket to remove them. I also have 1 that is the pressed kind i never used.

Yes , on my 71 factory they are screwed in

The reproduction units are screwed - Literally

I went to tighten the upper ball joints because they where loose and the threads stripped - I think they got Chinese cross threaded on two sets honestly

The bushings seemed ok

So 2 days and 2 pages in the OP still hasn't clarified which came loose, but based on his verbiage of "Ball joint and control bushings" you have to assume he was stating that his bushings came loose, not the ball joint.

Even with the arm now rotating on the bushing OD it shouldn't change the alignment to a huge extreme to destroy tires, so maybe he's saying the Ball joint popped out of it's socket, but is now calling it a bushing...:eek::xscuseless:

In reference to the screwed or pressed in ball joints.

73s got lowers screwed, while 74s are (or should be) pressed in.

Uppers are all screwed all years. It can't be pressed in due the force direction over them. Lowers supports being pressed in, because tipically the force direction goes toward up.
