As a vendor in the swap meet area for the second time in 20 years, and the other time was 2 years ago, I would have to say the economy is still bad. I usually set up on the mid way to sell my fiberglass and a few choice performance parts, but with moving the shop and all , I had decided to cut down on the stock of actual Mopar parts that I have been collecting since 1970. With all these reality shows on tv, some of these people feel the need to try to become Mike and Frank ,( Pickers ), and you really do want to butch slap them. In general I feel the crowd was down so far on Friday and Sat. and they were really nickle dimeing us to death. Higher price sales were few and the little 5-10 dollar sales were plenty. Sunday will be real nice weather and we hope to make a sale on some of our Hemi manifolds. Magnesium crossram , tunnel ram, inline 2x4 manifolds are not for everyones garage, but we still hope to sell them. At times we felt that we were having a racers reunion in the tent area, which was cool as hell. All in all , it is a good time and we are hoping that one of the other vendors will buy us out . See ya there. :headbang:

Sales at the Nats were down for me this year but had one of the best Carlisle in 10 years.

I'll agree. I sold about 90% of my junk at Carlisle. Between myself & a friend who shared the spot, we netted about 6 large..

I'm sure I will ruffle a few feathers with this but here goes...

The Ohio economy is a train wreck. My wife and I have been looking for a very specific property over the last several months with no luck. She wants horses which equals barn and minimum 5 acres. I want a detached 2 car garage with workshop. I have had almost no luck finding this type of place in Kentucky where I prefer to live. They are all over the damn place just none for sale. Looking in Ohio, which I am 10 miles from, there are hundreds available that meet that description. After running the state raping (err taxes) numbers there is no way on God's green earth I would live in that state.

I realize not everyone who goes to the Nats in Columbus is from Ohio but a large percentage are. The state is taking all their money and the lower wages across the board is a bad combination for vendors there.

That's what happens when you have a Democratic Gov, Now with Kasich things are looking better, gas companies are really pouring in and we went from a deficit to a rainy day fund under him. We tend to go back in forth, unfortunetly people can't put two and two together and quit electing them. The biggest things killing our income is health care and gas, so lets make it worse "hear comes Obama Care".

GLASSMAN... I wish it was much closer, I would have love to have gone & met a few of the guys from FBBO... Like normal, it seems everyone is looking for a storming deal & possibly or maybe even probably will think that on Sunday, many people/venders will drop/lower their prices some, so they don't have to load up stuff or bring it back home/shop {kind of A-Typical affair}... Kind of normal affair, especially after the 1st day/24hrs, when all/most of the best parts, for the best prices, are already shopped/picked thru or sold, at any event with swap-meets & venders, it's the nature of the beast, Mopar people tend to be, lets just say thrifty, too... As to what 70rr-Brain said... Not trying to make this political, just stating what I've seen... The nations overall economy being bad, allot of unemployment everywhere, with less than 1% economic growth, much higher taxes, rapidly aging population {baby boomers}, high healthcare costs & insurance issues looming, it doesn't really help much either, with most/many people having, much less discretionary income across the board, for most working class people, the frivolous or unnecessary spending is down everywhere, belts have to be tightened... I know my income & my discretionary/frivolous spending, has been effected drastically... I hope all the venders do well, make a ton of cash, now back on topic...

I can do the math. Kasich got that rainy day fund up by keeping the money taxpayers are sending to Columbus and starving the local governments. The state has a surplus and the schools are underfunded. Cities have to lay off cops, shut down pools, not fix streets, etc.
